Pagosa Springs is one of Colorado’s hidden mountain towns. Every year, skiers come from all over the state to experience the snowy terrain. One of my favorite cross-country Skiing trails is in Cloman Park, near downtown Pagosa Springs. The best part is that it’s free!

Where To Rent Cross-Country Skis In Pagosa Springs

You can absolutely bring your cross-country skis if you have them! But if you are visiting and want to ski for the day, you can rent XC Skis in downtown Pagosa.

Cross Country Skiing At Cloman Park

The free cross-country ski trials are located at Cloman Park, an open space park northwest of downtown Pagosa Springs off Piedra Road, at the end of Stephens Lake Road on Cloman Blvd.

The park features an 18-hole disc golf course, hiking and biking trails in the summer and groomed cross-country ski trails in the winter.

You can enjoy the park anytime, but winter is one of the best times to go. The area’s beauty is just one of the perks; the free cross-country ski trails are another.

Using the trail system is easy. You will see all the groomed trails when you exit the car from the parking area. We took the easy loop, about 3 miles; it had some ups and downs, but nothing too tricky.

The cross-country ski trail brought us through the forest until we made the entire loop back to the parking area. We did this loop a few times, even though it was freezing that day.

There are more challenging trails for extreme cross-country skiers, too! The Davis Ranch trail is more complicated since it has a steep, narrow drop with a few fast turns.

Can You Snowhose At Cloman Park?

The Clomam Park ski trails are groomed by the PNC exclusively for cross-country skiing. That means no snowshoers or walkers near the cross-country ski trails since that will mess up the trail. ! Post-holing ruins the groomed snow.

However, a specially designated, marked, and groomed loop exists for snowshoers and walkers. These trails also start from the parking lot so you can do both in one day!

When Is Cloman Park Open?

The parks in Pagosa Springs are open from dawn to dusk except for special events.

Is The Park Dog-Friendly?

Dogs are welcome in Pagosa Springs parks. Cloman Park allows dogs, but not on the cross-country ski trails.

Where Is Cloman Park Located?

Cloman Park is located in Pagosa Springs. From Highway 160, drive 1.3 miles north on Piedra Road. Turn right on Cloman Blvd for 1.4 miles, then stay left at the fork in the road, which dead-ends at the Cloman Park parking lot.
