Moab can get scorching hot in the summer, reaching above 100 degrees regularly. The best way to cool off in this desert town is to enjoy Hawaiian shaved ice at Tropical Sno Moab. They are located in downtown Moab, making it a great place to stop during your visit to Arches National Park.
What is Hawaiin Shaved Ice?
Hawaiian ice, also known as shaved ice, is a popular frozen dessert made by shaving ice into a fine, snow-like texture. It’s typically served in a cup or cone and topped with flavored syrups, often including tropical flavors like pineapple, coconut, mango, or passion fruit.
Sometimes, it’s served with ice cream, or condensed milk drizzled on top for added richness. It’s a refreshing treat in Hawaii and beyond, especially in hot weather.
Even though it’s far from Hawaii, people still love Hawaiian shaved ice in Moab, Utah. It’s a nice treat, especially when it’s hot outside. The flavors make you feel like you’re on a tropical vacation, with tastes like coconut and pineapple. It’s a sweet break from exploring the desert and adds some fun to your trip.
Tropical Sno Moab
Pioneer Family Brands, Inc. began in the spring of 1984 when they opened their very first Tropical Sno spot in Provo, Utah. They had a lot of success and enjoyed what they were doing so much that they wanted to help others do the same by guiding them to start their own Tropical Sno places. Now, they’ve got dealers in every state across the United States and in over thirty countries worldwide, with one location in Moab!
They use block ice shavers that shave the ice so fine that it literally absorbs the flavor. Their list of flavors is endless, including Paradise Island, which has guava, coconut cream, and Mango.

I had the Tiger’s Blood, which combines strawberry and coconut.
Other popular flavors include the Mai Tai, which has pineapple, lemon orange and the Bananaberry, which has banana and strawberry.
Visiting Tropical Sno Moab is a quick and fun addition to any Arches National Park itinerary, especially on those hot desert days!
