Driving the Road to Hana is an unforgettable experience, but it’s a long journey. Along the way, you’ll want to stop for delicious local food, from roadside fruit stands to hidden gems. One stop that truly lives up to the hype is Aunt Sandy’s Banana Bread in Keʻanae, Maui!
Aunty Sandy’s Banana Bread
Before I talk about my visit to Aunt Sandy’s, here is how it came to be!
The Story of Aunt Sandy’s Banana Bread
Aunty Sandy Hueu began making her famous banana bread in 1983, selling it fresh from a small stand in Keʻanae, Maui.
In 2003, her daughter Tammy joined her, and together, they created one of the most beloved food stops along the Road to Hana.

The secret? Their banana bread is always served hot and fresh, made with ripe Hawaiian bananas that give it an irresistible flavor.
Visiting Aunt Sandy’s Banana Bread on the Road to Hana
Our visit to Aunt Sandy’s Banana Bread was inspired by Gordon Ramsay’s Uncharted, and we were lucky to arrive early before the long lines started forming.
I enjoyed Aunt Sandy‘s after visiting Maui’s Rainbow Eucalyptus Trees at Ke’anae Arboretum
We bought two loaves, and honestly, it was the best banana bread I’ve ever had!
The soft, warm texture and sweet banana flavor made it the perfect snack for our Hana adventure.

In addition to Banana Bread, they also served fruit smoothies, hot dogs, and sandwiches. It is the perfect place to stop for a break during your day of exploring Maui.
