Welcome to Rocky Mountain National Park, where the breathtaking views and camping are fantastic! Rocky Mountain National Park offers five campgrounds for visitors: Aspenglen, Glacier Basin, Moraine Park, Longs Peak, and Timber Creek. My favorite camping spot is the Glacier Basin Campground, thanks to its proximity to some of the best hikes in the park.

Glacier Basin Campground

Glacier Basin Campground is one of the five campgrounds within Rocky Mountain National Park, offering visitors a panoramic setting and convenient access to various hiking trails and natural attractions.

The campground features 150 campsites, including tent-only and RV-friendly sites. Some sites offer electric hookups for RVs. Each campsite has a picnic table and a fire ring, and most sites accommodate tents, trailers, and RVs up to specific lengths.

Are There Bears At Glacier Basin Campground?

Bears can be found in Rocky Mountain National Park, including in the vicinity of Glacier Basin Campground. The park is home to a population of black bears, which are wild animals that visitors can occasionally encounter, especially in areas where food and garbage are improperly stored.

The National Park Service has implemented specific guidelines for camping in Bear County to minimize the risk of bear encounters and promote visitor safety. These guidelines typically include storing food, coolers, cooking utensils, and scented items in bear-proof containers or lockers provided at the campground.

Additionally, visitors are advised to properly dispose of all trash and avoid leaving food or scented items unattended.

What Hikes Are By Glacier Basin Campground?

The campground serves as an excellent base camp for exploring Rocky Mountain National Park since it is located on the Bear Lake Corridor Road!

Hiking trails, such as the popular Glacier Gorge Trailhead, are easily accessible from the campground. These trails lead to scenic destinations like Alberta Falls, Mills Lake, and The Loch.

My favorite hike in Colorado is Dream Lake, which is easy to access from this area! Here is a picture of one of my many hikes to the lake. Make sure to subscribe for when I drop that guide.
