Round Turn Distilling

Round Turn Distilling is in a 150-year-old textile mill on the Saco River, five miles from the Maine coast. The distillery reflects New England’s heritage. The mill once harnessed the river’s waters to power its looms, but now Round Turn employs steam to operate its modern steel and copper still.

The founders, Darren Case and Kristina Hansen, both native Mainers, returned to Maine from Brooklyn, NY, in 2014 to establish Round Turn Distilling. They were attracted by the artistic and entrepreneurial community in Biddeford, reminiscent of Brooklyn’s culture.

Bimini GIn

They are famous for their Bimini Gin, which you have probably seen in your local Maine grocery store or favorite bar.

The gin is inspired by warm, sunny days. Its clean, citrusy flavor, derived from grapefruit zest, coriander, and hops, is ideal for refreshing summer drinks and imagining warm winter weather.

I recommend grabbing a bottle of it during your visit to the distillery.

A Visit To The Distillery

We found Round Turn Distilling during one of our road trips through Maine and have returned a few times since. Once you make your way inside, you will see the small but lively room with plenty of tables and rustic decor.

They had a variety of bright, colorful, and delicious cocktails for us to try! We first tried the Spice Island, which had bimini gin, lime, raw sugar, ginger beer, bitters

Gin & Tonic Menu

Next, we took advantage of their very affordable G&T Menu!

You can get a classic gin and tonic, which has Bimini gin and Polar tonic water, or make it a premium gin and tonic, which has a variety of premium tonics for you to choose from.

Want to try them all? Get the Gin & Tonic Flight, which features Bimini gin, a choice of premium tonics, and four half-size drinks.

Our other drink is the Seasonally Bramble, which features bimini gin, seasonal berries, and spices.

Snack Menu

As you can see, we paired our drinks with some of their snacks. You can choose from a variety of small plates, such as olives and sesame crackers. We added them to our cocktails, they were the perfect addition!
