NYC is known for its loud taxi cabs, crowded streets, and delicious food. It is truly one of the best cities in the world and probably my favorite. I am partial since I grew up taking the train into the city, taking class trips to the MET, and trying every slice of pizza I could.

But it’s no secret the food scene in New York City is one of the best in the world. I had the pleasure of visiting Chinatown during my last visit, and while the dumplings were amazing, I found another spot that blew my mind, and that was Soft Swerve.

Soft Swerve specializes in Asian-inspired flavors, which they pair with various crunchies, drizzles, and cones.

Popular magazines like Bon Appetit, Cosmopolitan, and Eater New York have even featured their ice cream.

They have a variety of flavors, from Hong Kong Milk Tea to Frozen Hot Chocolate. I chose to try the Ube Purple Yam Ice Cream, mainly for its pretty color.

While I visited the Chinatown location in New York City, they do have locations on the Lower East Side, Kips Bay, Flushing, and Downtown Brooklyn.

What Is Ube?

Additionally, ube, a type of purple yam common in Filipino cuisine, boasts a vibrant purple hue and a sweet, nutty flavor. It features prominently in Filipino desserts like ube halaya (a sweet jam), ube ice cream, and ube-flavored pastries. Its popularity extends beyond the Philippines, with ube-flavored treats now available in various parts of the world, including NYC!

This ice cream shop was delicious, even on a cold NYC day. Moreover, the flavor was delicious, and I could have had about five more if I am being honest. However, I guess I will have to save the other flavors for my next trip to the Big Apple.
