Where Is Malibu Wines & Beer Garden

Despite its name, this scenic wine and beer garden is not located in Malibu. But it’s not far as it is located in West Hills, California, which is about a thirty-minute drive from the beaches of Malibu.

The Tradition

Experience Saddlerock Ranch, Malibu’s esteemed winemaking tradition. Join the Semler family for a warm invitation to explore their tasting rooms, where every sip reveals Malibu’s diverse flavors. From coastal Chardonnays to sun-kissed Cabernet Sauvignons, indulge in the essence of home across the sprawling 1100-acre ranch nestled in the Santa Monica Mountains.

In 1978, Ron Semler acquired the land that would become Saddlerock Ranch, initially for his daughter’s equestrian pursuits. Over time, it expanded into an 1100-acre haven for Ron, his wife Lisa, and their nine children, featuring farm animals, vineyards, and a close-knit family atmosphere.

Following a devastating freeze in 1992 that destroyed avocado trees, the Semlers shifted to wine grapes. These resilient crops, suited to the area’s diverse climate, required less water and offered promise for winemaking. The vineyards sprawl across 70 acres today, producing premium varietals like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Sauvignon Blanc, shaping Saddlerock Ranch’s esteemed winemaking legacy.

We added a charcuterie plate, which you can add to your reservation when booking or purchasing on-site. It was so delicious, thanks to the local cheeses and meats.
