At night, the dunes transformed into an epic stargazing spot. Since Great Sand Dunes National Park is an International Dark Sky Park, the views of the Milky Way were crystal clear.

Essential Camping Tips for Piñon Flats

  • Beware of Beetles! – They tend to hang around firepits during the day but disappear at night.
  • Hammocks Are Not Allowed – To prevent tree damage, hammocks are prohibited.
  • Quiet Hours: 10 PM – 6 AM
  • Generator Hours: 8 AM – 10 AM, 12 PM – 2 PM, 5 PM – 7 PM
