Watkins Glen State Park is located near the Finger Lakes region of New York. This outdoor paradise is packed with relaxing hiking trails that are surrounded by waterfalls and lush greenery. My favorite trail to hike is the Glen Creek Gorge Trail! Here is everything you need to know.

The already beautiful surroundings get even better, thanks to the Finger Lake wine region being a quick drive away.

That means you can spend your morning admiring waterfalls and your afternoon sipping delicious wine.

Does life get much better than that?

I was lucky to visit in late fall when the leaves had changed into vibrant, bright colors.

This made the hiking trail even more unique, thanks to the cool autumn air.

Glen Creek Gorge Trail Hike

The most famous hike is the 2.1-mile Glen Creek Gorge Trail, which will bring you up a steep staircase that provides beautiful views of the waterfalls.

Make sure to wear waterproof hiking boots, as the relaxing waterfall mist can make them slippery.

The hike is not challenging, but it is a good morning workout. The park is generally accessible to visitors of various fitness levels.

However, some parts of the trail involve stairs and steep sections. Just take your time and enjoy the views!

The trail passes over and under numerous waterfalls, providing breathtaking views and photo opportunities. The gorge is lined with gorgeously sculpted rock formations, including cliffs, overhangs, and tunnels, formed by the erosive forces of Glen Creek.

Waterfalls Along The Glen Creek Gorge Trail

Watkins Glen is home to 19 waterfalls along its Gorge Trail, each with its unique character and beauty. The most famous waterfall in the park is the Cavern Cascade, which cascades over 60 feet and is known for its mesmerizing beauty.
