Magog is one of my favorite relaxing getaways in Quebec, offering everything from scenic hikes to cozy restaurants and wine tasting. But one of the best ways to unwind here? A day at a Nordic spa.
During my trip, I visited Spa Bolton, and it was the perfect way to relax. If you’re looking for the best Nordic spa near Magog, this is the one you don’t want to miss.
Spa Bolton
Located just 25 minutes from downtown Magog, Spa Bolton offers an incredible thermotherapy experience with hot baths, cold plunges, and stunning views of the Missisquoi River.

Unlike some larger spas, it has a peaceful, intimate atmosphere, making it perfect for a day of relaxation.

The Spa Experience
There are so many amenities to take advantage of during your visit to Spa Bolton. Here is a brief overview.
Thermotherapy
Nordic spas are all about thermotherapy, a cycle of hot, cold, and rest that helps eliminate stress, boost circulation, and relax your muscles.
Step 1: Heat
You will first experience the hot stage, where you will spend 8-15 minutes in one of the hot options.
This will help your body temperature rise while also relaxing your muscles and releasing toxins.

You can experience hot by visiting the Joki wood sauna heated at 75 to 95°C or 175 to 185°F, the Kuivaaunaa and Aromisauna electric saunas, or the Eukalypyus Steam Room, which helps your respiratory system.
Step 2: Cold
Then, plunge yourself into cold water for 10-15 seconds. This will help lower your body temperature and open the pores of your skin. At the same time, allowing your heart rate to increase.
Other Cold plunge benefits are increased endorphins, awakening your mind, and making you happy.
You can take a dip in one of the two cold water baths, kept at 11°C or 52°F all year round, or soak in the Missisquoi River, which is accessible all year round.
Cold Plunges are my favorite part of Thermotherapy; they are freezing at first but make you feel so refreshed afterward.

Step 3: Rest
Lastly is rest, which you will experience for 20 minutes or more. You can lie down in one of the relaxation yurts with wood fireplaces.
Soak in one of three hot baths overlooking the river or swim in the heated pool all year round at 28°C or 84°F.

They also have a variety of hammocks, long chairs, and relaxation chairs by the river.
