Hidden in the forests of the Eastern Townships, Le Spa Manoir Hovey is one of Quebec’s top-rated spas, offering breathtaking Lac Massawippi views and award-winning relaxation.
During my visit, I indulged in the thermal spa experience, which left me feeling completely refreshed and stress-free.
If you’re searching for the best spa in Quebec, here’s why Le Spa Manoir Hovey should be at the top of your list.
Le Spa Manoir Hovey
We drove from Maine to visit the spa, which is nestled in the Eastern Townships of Quebec.
An area known for its vineyards and wide range of summer and winter activities in the Appalachian foothills.

I was thrilled to visit Le Spa Manoir Hovey, which is located at the Manoir Hovey Resort. You can stay at the resort, or buy a day pass like we did to use the amenities.
The spa offers a variety of treatments, too, from massages to facials, but we came for one reason: to try the Thermal Experience!
The Thermal Experience At Le Spa Manoir Hovey
It was only 30 degrees outside when we arrived, with crisp wind chills. It was the perfect day to enjoy the thermal experience.
A thermal experience is a spa treatment that alternates between hot, warm, and cold environments to promote relaxation and wellness.
It includes saunas, steam rooms, warm pools, and cold plunge pools, helping to improve circulation, relieve muscle tension, detoxify the body, and refresh the mind.

So on a cold day like today, I knew we would be warming up quickly.
The Thermal Experience is popular at Nordic spas like Manoir Hovey, and with my roots in Norway and Sweden, I was more than happy to spend the day enjoying it.

Step One: Heat
First, we began with heat, where we took a 20-minute soak in two of the outdoor whirlpools.
The first pool was located near the infinity pool.

While the infinity pool was heated, it still felt a little chilly with the wind and temperature, making it perfect for the cold session.
But we skipped it for the heat portion.

We also soaked in the hot tub located on the roof of the second-floor spa area. This area is quiet and hidden, making it a peaceful escape.

Step Two: Cold
After spending at least 20 minutes in the heat, it’s time to head to the cold pool, which is my favorite part.
The cold portion of the thermal experience at Le Spa Manoir Hovey helps flush out toxins and boosts your body’s natural endorphins.

You can plunge into a cold pool or try a cold shower with Saskatchewan pink salt exfoliation. We did both!
In the summer, you can even jump into the crystal-clear lake! I chose to take a plunge into the cold pool first, which made my entire body go numb.
But once I got out, I felt incredibly refreshed, like I was a walking cup of coffee.
Step 3: Rest
Now it was time to rest, and Le Spa Manoir Hovey is the perfect place to do just that.
Resting is key to resetting your cardiovascular system and letting the benefits of the thermal cycle work their magic.
Relax at the outdoor lakeside pool, in one of the two serene lake-view rooms, around the fire pit, or near the lake.

We decided to walk down to the dock in our robes and curl up with our favorite books.
The sun was shining off the lake, warming my face, and despite the 30-degree weather, I still felt cozy from the soak earlier.

It was wonderful to enjoy the benefits of the sun on a windy fall day in Canada.
Step 4: Repeat!
Once the cycle is completed, you can repeat it as many times as you like!
We spent two hours going through the process, choosing different hot and cold areas, and by the end, I felt all of my stress melt away.

The Thermal Experience is simple and quick, but it truly makes you feel refreshed and rejuvenated.
