Introducing Ste-Pétronille Winery, my favoeite winery in Canada’s Île d’Orléans wine region. Known for its exquisite wines, this charming winery stands out for something else: its tasty pizza. Here is everything you know about visiting this scenic winery.

Ste-Pétronille Winery

This winery is a special place. The owners sold their businesses, quit their jobs, and sold their homes to become winemakers. Their passion became their profession, and their three children joined the adventure.

Since 2018, they’ve been growing grapes organically. In 2021, they got certified. They go beyond making compost and plant-based fungicides. They’re into electro-culture, using magnetic fields to help vines grow more potent against pests and diseases, aiming for better quality and quantity.

They recently acquired land on the island’s north side, perfect for organically growing Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Noir. This added 3.8 hectares to their vineyard.

The wine they produce is so delectable and packed with various flavors.

The Winery

I loved my visit to Vignoble Ste-Pétronille and felt welcome when I walked in. Île d’Orléans is located near Quebec City, where the language is primarily French. As an English speaker, the Ste-Pétronille Winery staff made us feel welcome and spoke excellent English.

We first ordered a tasting, which we enjoyed inside at one of the round tables. The wine was delicious, as we sipped a variety of whites and reds.

Then, we put our names in to enjoy a table outside, where we could order one of their delicious pizzas. The view from the outdoor areas is beautiful, with rolling green hills of the vineyards and mountains in the distance.

Their Neapolitan pizza is made with local ingredients and then cooked in a wood-fired oven. They have a variety of options, from specialty pies to multiple toppings. The pizza here is so good that we ordered two during our visit!

It was an immaculate addition to our bottle of wine, which we ordered after the tasting.

We sipped their Marquette red, an organic and agro-environmental light red wine ideally enjoyed on a warm September day.

Walk Through The Vines

During your visit, you are also allowed to stroll through their vineyard, admiring the vines and grapes from which your wine comes.

How Much Is A Wine Tasting?

For $24, you can enjoy a Wine Tasting Platter, recommended for 2-4 people. This allows you to try four different wines. You can also choose additional options for $2 a wine.

When Is Ste-Pétronille Winery Open?

They are open seasonally, usually in late May, and stay open until the fall. We visited in mid-September and got lucky with the mild weather.

It was the perfect day to bike to the wineries and enjoy pizza on the outdoor terrace at Ste-Pétronille Winery. Check their current opening dates on their website.

Where Is Ste-Pétronille Winery Located?

You can visit them at Île d’Orléans, a quick drive from Quebec City.
