It’s situated in a box canyon, surrounded by steep forested mountains and cliffs, with the San Miguel River running through it.

It is one of the most isolated places to visit unless you have a private jet. The rest of us will take a long road trip through Colorado to reach it, making it more special than ever.

When we visited, the road had many loose rocks, so wearing good footwear is a must.

Expect intense sun on the road, too, since no trees provide shade.

At the top of the falls is the historic Bridal Veil Powerhouse, built in 1907 to generate electricity for the Smuggler-Union Mine.

The powerhouse has been restored and is an iconic landmark.

We admired the cascading falls from the base while enjoying the green surroundings of Telluride.

The trail follows the steep 4×4 road known as Black Bear Pass that winds up the mountainside, providing breathtaking views of Telluride and the surrounding peaks.

However, this road is not for the faint of heart or inexperienced.

Some have even fallen off the road trying to attempt it, which resulted in serious injuries and even death. I recommend hiking it!
