Paris is known for its buttery croissants and endless pastries, and I had my fair share of both. But sometimes, you want to try something different during a trip, so we made it our mission to find good Thai food. During the second half of our trip, we spent some time in the 6th arrondissement and discovered The Crying Tiger, which had the best Thai food in the area.

The Crying Tiger

We found The Crying Tiger by following the wonderful smell in the air when walking around the 6th. We made reservations for dinner that evening as soon as we saw it. The Crying Tiger is a Thai restaurant that has a warm ambiance and decor of a traditional bistro.

Their menu is simple yet authentic, and everything is made from scratch. Fresh fruits and vegetables are delivered daily, prepared by the team before being cooked to order.

Here is a glimpse into our meal at The Crying Tiger in Paris!

Tom Yam Gong

I started my meal with a hot bowl of Tom Yam Goong, my favorite Thai soup. It’s made with shrimp, lemongrass, and galangal—a root spice often used in Southeast Asian cuisine, especially in Thai cooking. While galangal is similar to ginger, it has its own unique flavor. The soup was packed with heat and flavor, just the way Tom Yam Goong should be!

Shrimp Spring Rolls

Then we ordered a side of crispy shrimp spring rolls to go with our main dishes. They are wheat pancakes stuffed with shrimp, fresh herbs, and vegetables. As soon as I chopped down the crunch took over. It was delicious.

Chicken Pad Thai

Of course, we had to order the Chicken Pad Thai, which is a true Thai dish. It had Stir-fried rice noodles, chicken, tofu, egg, bean sprouts, coriander, and peanuts. It was the perfect amount of spiciness.

Stir-fried Tofu With Thai Basil

Lastly, we chowed down on the Stir-fried Tofu With Thai Basil. This vegan dish had Stir-fried tofu with Thai basil and white rice. It was so good and very healthy.

Cocktails At The Crying Tiger

In addition to their delicious food, they offer creative drinks to enjoy with your meal. We tried the Bangkok Mule, made with vodka, ginger liqueur, and citron. It was incredibly refreshing, especially paired with the spicy Thai flavors.

Do I Need Reservations For The Crying Tiger?

Yes, I would recommend making a reservation. We got the last slot of the day, and they were consistently busy the entire night. You can sit at the bar or in the dining room—you won’t be disappointed either way.

You can make a reservation here.

Where Is The Crying Tiger?

You can find them in the 6th at 72 Rue du Cherche-Midi.
