This past fall, I visited the charming town of Hartland, where I stocked up on chips and checked out the world’s shortest covered bridge. Here’s how you can see it for yourself!
The World’s Shortest Covered Bridge
The main reason we found these delicious potato chips was that we were visiting the World’s Shortest Covered Bridge. Which is located on-site.

The bridge is only 24 feet, making it an easy and very quick walk!

It was such a weird attraction! Not only was it easy to visit, but it was also right next to a store full of potato chips!
We also Explored the World’s Longest Covered Bridge! Which was right across the street.
Covered Bridge Potato Chips
The bridge is located right next to the family-owned Covered Bridge Potato Chip Company.
The location is fitting, as New Brunswick is known for its potato farming.

In 2004, Matt and Ryan Albright launched a potato distribution company. By 2009, they purchased the farm that harvested the potatoes.

Unfortunately, a fire tragically destroyed the main production plant in early March 2024, affecting over one hundred workers. Thankfully, all employees evacuated safely.

We were delighted to find that we could still visit when passing through Hartland, so when we spotted the small shack selling chips, we stopped immediately and went inside to grab some.

Additionally, what sets Covered Bridge Potato Chips apart is their old-fashioned kettle-cooked method.
Unlike mass-produced chips that come out thin and uniform, small-batch cooking gives kettle chips their thicker, crunchier texture.
The company prides itself on using local New Brunswick potatoes, ensuring freshness and a direct connection to the region’s farming traditions.
Unique Flavors and Local Influence
One of the things that sets Covered Bridge Potato Chips apart is their wide range of flavors, some of which are distinctly Canadian.
You’ll find classic flavors like Sea Salt, Salt & Vinegar, and BBQ, but the brand is also known for its more adventurous offerings.

We chose the Salt & Vinegar and the Dill Pickle! They even had Lobster-flavored chips! It made the perfect road trip snack on our way back to Maine where we hiked.

After our visit here, we continued on to The World’s Longest Covered Bridge, which was just a short three-minute drive.
Then we headed up to Plaster Rock to see The World’s largest Fiddelehads, which was an hour away.
