When planning my trip to Iceland for the midnight sun, I knew I wanted to experience the Blue Lagoon—but without the chaos of the crowds.
That’s why I chose the Silica Hotel. Just a short walk from the main entrance, this hotel offered something I hadn’t seen anywhere else: exclusive access to a private lagoon just for guests. Right away, it felt like the ultimate Icelandic escape.
Here is a look into my stay at the Silicia Hotel in Iceland, and if I thought it was worth the hype!
Silica Hotel Iceland Review
What really sealed the deal for me was the peaceful setting of the Silica Hotel.
Surrounded by lava fields and natural beauty, it felt like a calm retreat far away from the tour buses and selfie sticks.

I’d read that staying at Silica Hotel included premium Blue Lagoon entry too, which meant I wouldn’t have to worry about booking separately or lining up at the entrance.
I wanted something relaxing, convenient, and worth the splurge—and Silica Hotel promised all of that.
First Impressions & Check-In
From the moment we arrived at the Silica Hotel, I could tell this was going to be something special.
The check-in process was smooth and welcoming—no stress, no lines, just calm.

As soon as we got our room keys, we were offered a complimentary welcome drink.
I chose a glass of wine and took it straight out to one of the cozy lounge chairs overlooking the private lagoon.

The staff was great, too, giving us all the info we needed without it feeling like a script.
They explained how to access the private lagoon, how premium access to the Blue Lagoon worked, and pointed us toward the walking path that connects the hotel to the main lagoon and Lava Restaurant.
Just like that, I felt totally at ease. This wasn’t just a hotel stay—it was the kind of place where you can finally exhale.

The Silica Lagoon: My Private Oasis
This was hands-down my favorite part of staying at Silica Hotel.
The Silica Lagoon is a private geothermal pool just for hotel guests, and honestly, it felt like having the Blue Lagoon all to myself.

It has the same mineral-rich, milky-blue water as the main lagoon, but without the crowds, noise, or selfie sticks. Just peace, steam, and pure relaxation.
We went for a soak right after check-in, and there were maybe two other people there—it was so quiet I could hear the water lapping against the rocks.

You also get free silica mud to use as a face mask (which I definitely took advantage of), and there are pool floats if you just want to lie back and drift for a while.

It’s open from 9 AM to 10 PM, so you can start your day with a slow soak or wind down after exploring Iceland all day.
What I loved most was that you didn’t have to fight for space or rush the experience.
Our Room at Silica Hotel
Our room at Silica Hotel was so cozy, I didn’t want to leave. If you’ve been researching Silica Hotel Iceland reviews, let me tell you—everything you’ve heard about the comfort is true.

The bed was incredibly soft, with thick, fluffy bedding that made it feel like sleeping in a cloud (which felt extra amazing after a long travel day).

One of my favorite features was the little private patio that looked out over the lava fields and lagoon.

We couldn’t soak from our room—that’s only available at the Retreat Hotel which is nearby.
But we did sit outside in our robes with a complimentary espresso from the in-room machine.

There’s also a mini fridge, which came in handy for keeping drinks and snacks cold.
The Scandinavian design throughout the room made everything feel calm and clean without being too minimal.

I also loved the shower—it was one of the biggest we had during our trip around Iceland.

And did I mention you get to use their complimentary products? I washed my body and hair a few extra times just to enjoy them.

The Silica Hotel is the kind of place where you can really unwind. I found myself completely relaxed before we even made it over to the Blue Lagoon.

Blue Lagoon Premium Access: Just a Short Walk Away
One of the best perks of staying at Silica Hotel is that you get Premium entry to the Blue Lagoon included with your stay—no need to book separately or worry about finding a time slot.

It’s just a short, easy walk from the hotel, maybe five minutes along a quiet path through the lava rocks.
We went in the evening after spending the day relaxing in the Silica Lagoon, and it couldn’t have been more convenient.
With the Premium entry, you get access to three different face masks and two drinks while you’re soaking in the Blue Lagoon.

I had a sparkling wine in one hand and a cleansing mask on my face, just floating in the steamy water as the sun dipped behind the lava fields—it was unreal.

After our soak, we walked straight over to Lava Restaurant for dinner (more on that in a separate post below), which made the whole night feel like a full-on spa experience.

Between the Silica Lagoon during the day and the Blue Lagoon later that day, it felt like we got the best of both worlds—all without ever needing to get in a car.
Breakfast at Silica Hotel: Worth Waking Up For
Breakfast at Silica Hotel was honestly one of the best we had in Iceland.
The dining area is bright and peaceful, with big windows looking out over the lava fields—and the food? Amazing.

They had everything: creamy Icelandic skyr, fresh pastries, local cheeses, smoked salmon, cured meats, and even a selection of fish dishes that felt super traditional.

I made myself a plate with a little bit of everything (okay, maybe two plates), and the quality was so much better than your average hotel buffet.
There were also fresh fruits, hot coffee, juices, and a bunch of gluten-free options for those who need them.
It felt more like a boutique café than a hotel breakfast, and definitely not something you want to skip if you’re staying here.

Is the Silica Hotel Worth the Price?
Let’s be real—Silica Hotel isn’t cheap. It’s definitely a splurge, and I knew that going in. But after staying there, I can honestly say it was worth every penny.

When you break it down, you’re getting a lot more than just a hotel room.
You get full access to the Silica Lagoon (which felt like a luxury spa all to ourselves), premium entry to the Blue Lagoon with all the extras, a super comfy room, and a peaceful setting that’s hard to put a price on.
If you’re already planning to visit the Blue Lagoon and thinking about booking a spa package or day pass, it might actually make sense to stay here.

The experience felt so much more personal and relaxing compared to the day-tripper crowd at the main lagoon. I didn’t feel rushed or packed in. I felt calm. Taken care of.
So yes, it’s expensive—but if you’re looking for something special in Iceland, this is one of those once-in-a-lifetime stays that actually lives up to the hype.

Final Thoughts on Staying at Silica Hotel Iceland
If you’re on the fence about booking Silica Hotel, here’s my honest take: do it—especially if you’re already planning to visit the Blue Lagoon. This place made our trip feel so much more special.
Yes, it’s a splurge. But it’s the kind of stay that sticks with you long after the trip is over. I felt relaxed, recharged, and completely spoiled.
Would I stay here again? In a heartbeat. It was the perfect way to refresh after an overnight flight, and I had the best night of sleep here!
