As a wine lover, I was beyond excited to experience Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley, one of Canada’s most promising wine regions. Since it was my first time in Nova Scotia, I wasn’t sure where to start.
Instead of figuring it out on my own, I decided to hop aboard the Magic Winery Bus! It’s the best way to tour the region’s wineries without worrying about transportation! Here’s everything you need to know about this one-of-a-kind wine adventure.
Nova Scotia’s Magic Winery Bus
First, let’s talk about the Magic Winery Bus Tour in Nova Scotia!
This unique experience takes you from winery to winery aboard a double-decker magic bus.
It felt like we were in London, but instead, we were sipping wine in Nova Scotia.

Our enthusiastic guide entertained us with fun facts, jokes, and insights about Nova Scotia’s cool climate wines, including its famous Tidal Bay and ice wines.
With stress-free transportation and a perfectly planned itinerary, this tour was the ideal way to experience the best wineries in Nova Scotia.

My Day Aboard the Magic Winery Bus
We started our adventure in Wolfville, a charming town known as the gateway to Annapolis Valley’s wine region. With only 32 seats on board, the tour felt intimate and personalized.
Here’s a breakdown of our incredible day of wine tasting, vineyard strolls, and stunning views.
Stop One: Benjamin Bridge
After we boarded the bus, it was time to make our way to the first winery!
Our first stop was Benjamin Bridge, one of Canada’s most famous wineries, best known for its Méthode Classique sparkling wines, crafted in a style similar to Champagne.

We kicked off our tasting with crisp, refreshing bubbles, while the winery expert walked us through each pour, explaining the winemaking process.
Benjamin Bridge also prioritizes organic and sustainable farming, making the experience even more meaningful.

The late-morning fog rolling over the vineyard created an unforgettable atmosphere as we enjoyed our wine outdoors.

It was the perfect way to kick off our Nova Scotia wine tour on the Magic Winery Bus!

Stop Two: Domaine de Grand Pré & Lunch
By noon, we arrived at Domaine de Grand Pré, Nova Scotia’s oldest farm winery.
This family-run winery produces high-quality cool-climate wines, including the signature Tidal Bay—a must-try for any wine lover.
What makes Tidal Bay so special? This wine is unique because the Bay of Fundy has some of the highest tides in the world and is often described as a “tidal bay” due to its extreme tidal fluctuations.
We even had the chance to Hike To The Ocean’s Floor: The Bay Of Fundy during our road trip to Nova Scotia.
We were brought through the vineyard to the garden, where we learned all about the wine.
Our lunch at Le Caveau, their on-site restaurant, was made with locally sourced ingredients and paired beautifully with their wines.

After lunch, we explored the vineyard and sipped on their standout wines like Ortega, L’Acadie Blanc, and Castel.

We also tried a flight of wines. Sipping these wines on the patio, surrounded by the vineyard, was such a relaxing way to spend time at Domaine de Grand Pré!
Pro tip: Stop by their gift shop—I picked up Ice Wine, local salt, and other Nova Scotia treats!
Stop Three: Lightfoot & Wolfville Vineyards
Next up was Lightfoot & Wolfville Vineyards, where I was extra excited—because they have farm animals!

We were welcomed into a beautiful tasting room and seated at a large wooden table with a personalized wine flight.
Each wine came with detailed tasting notes, and our guide explained the winemaking process and flavor profiles.

After finishing our tasting, we received one final glass of wine and headed out into the vineyard to see the farm animals.
The highlight? After our tasting, we wandered outside to see the sheep— including baby lambs!

If we had more time, I would have definitely tried their wood-fired pizzas, which smelled amazing!

Stop Four: Luckett Vineyards
Our last stop of the day brought us to Luckett Vineyards, one of the most famous wineries, thanks to its iconic phone booth photo.
The British-style red phone booth in the middle of the vineyard is a must-see photo spot, with breathtaking views of the Minas Basin.
You can even make a call!

Luckett Vineyards is known for its Phone Box Red and Phone Box White, along with an impressive selection of crisp whites, bold reds, and unique fruit wines.
They also have a farm-to-table restaurant, making it the perfect place to sit back and soak in the final moments of our Magic Winery Bus adventure.

This was my favorite stop of the day, and we spent most of our time here.

Returning To Wolfville
After a full day of sipping, tasting, and exploring, it was time to return to Wolfville.
Throughout the day, we had the chance to buy additional wine tastings and shop at each winery, making it easy to take home our favorite bottles.

A secure storage compartment on the bus kept our wine purchases safe until the end of the tour.
If you’re looking for a fun, hassle-free way to experience Nova Scotia’s wineries, I highly recommend the Magic Winery Bus Tour!
How To Book The Magic Winery Bus
It’s important to note that Magic Winery Bus tours change seasonally.
They also have a hop-on, hop-off bus tour on certain days of the week, where you can take your time and explore the wineries at your own pace.
We originally planned to do this, but it didn’t align with the day we were visiting.
You can book your 2025 tour on their website!
Honestly, I’m glad we chose the guided tour—it was so educational and stress-free, giving us plenty of time to enjoy the wineries.
It was such a cool experience, and you really can’t go wrong with any tour!
