With the holidays right around the corner, I couldn’t miss the chance to visit Kennebunkport’s Christmas Prelude this year. Consistently ranked as one of the best Christmas towns in Maine, Kennebunkport hosts a magical 10-day event celebrating all things Christmas. During my visit, I had the opportunity to try the festive Christmas cocktail flight. Here’s a look into my experience!
Kennebunkport’s Christmas Prelude
First, let me tell you about Kennebunkport’s Christmas Prelude! This holiday tradition takes place over ten festive days each year in December.
This charming coastal town transforms into a winter wonderland, with twinkling lights, festive decorations, and Christmas-themed events that celebrate the season.

Visitors can enjoy holiday shopping at local boutiques, take part in activities like gingerbread house building and wreath-making, or simply stroll through the streets admiring the holiday displays.
The Kennebunkport Christmas Prelude also includes festive parades, carolers, a firework show and special visits from Santa.
You should also visit the Lobster Buoy Christmas Tree during your visit.
The Roaming Speakeasy
One of the highlights of visiting Kennebunkport at Christmas is enjoying the winter wonderland atmosphere.
We spent our day walking around the town when suddenly I saw everyone walking around with colorful cocktail flights. I knew I had to try one for myself!
I decided to make a stop at one of the town’s hidden gems, The Roaming Speakeasy, that’s become quite the talk of the holiday season.

This portable cocktail truck is known for its festive cocktails, from spiked hot chocolate to regular hot chocolate for those not wanting an alcoholic beverage.
The Festive Christmas Flight
Our festive flight featured four cocktail tastings inspired by the Christmas in Kennebunkport!

The first one was the Pomegranate Fizz, which had vodka, rosemary simple syrup, lime juice, pomegranate juice, seltzer, a sugar rim, a rosemary sprig, and a pomegranate garnish. It was bright and bubbly!
Next up was the Gingerbread Cookie, which was a dessert in itself. It featured spiced rum, Irish cream, maple simple syrup, whipped cream, cinnamon, and a delicious gingerbread cookie as the garnish!

The third cocktail was The Grinch, which had tequila, pineapple juice, lemon simple syrup, blue curaçao, a red sugar rim, and a maraschino cherry. I loved the color of this one!
Lastly was the Maple Old Fashioned, which had bourbon, bitters, maple simple syrup, orange, and maraschino cherries. It was delicious!
We sipped our flight by the warm fire, surrounded by shops and Christmas lights.

We even ran into Olive, the Christmas Prelude’s festive and social miniature donkey. She was so cute and greeted everyone in the area!
