New York City has many beautiful parks, including Central Park, Bryant Park, and Battery Park. These larger parks can sometimes outshine smaller parks in the city’s heart. During my visit, I was excited when I stumbled upon Little Island, one of NYC’s newest parks.

Little Island

Situated at Pier 55 along the Hudson River, near the Meatpacking District and Chelsea neighborhoods, Little Island officially opened to the public in May 2021.

Thomas Heatherwick and Heatherwick Studio designed the park; it features a distinctive design with its “tulip” pots, creating a floating, elevated green space. The green space and a place for relaxation in the urban environment of NYC.

The park spans 2.4 acres and includes lush gardens, rolling hills, and open lawns. We walked along a path that took us through different elevations and landscapes.

They even have an outdoor amphitheater called “The Amph,” which offers seating for performances and events with a scenic view of the river and the skyline.

Besides the amphitheater, there are other spaces for cultural and artistic performances, making it a hotspot for events.
