Lauterbrunnen Valley Bike Trails

Your bike ride will start from downtown Lauterbrunnen and take you on the main road for a few minutes.

Be careful of cars here, as the road is narrow. Just stay to the side and weave around pedestrians.

It can get crowded, especially during spring and summer.

From there, you will follow the paved bike path, which will take you along farms with big cows.

While providing insane views of the Swiss Alps right in front of you.

There are places to pull to the side of the trail, where you can admire the hardworking cows and farm animals.

Best Stops Along a Lauterbrunnen Valley Bike Ride

There are so many unique places to stop during your bike ride through the Lauterbrunnen Valley! Here are some that we did.

1. Farm Fridges

Our first stop was visiting one of the farm fridges, which are small vending machines that have fresh cheese and milk.

We got homemade cheese! You can find a spot nearby to picnic or bring it back with you to enjoy later.

2. Visit The Cows

We wouldn’t have been able to enjoy the tasty cheese if it weren’t for the cows nearby.

Admiring the cows at some of the farms we passed along the way was one of our favorite activities.

There are places to stop off and walk near the cows. Just be sure to not to reach over the fence and respect the farmer’s property.

3. Admire Staubbachfall Waterfall

Staubbachfall is one of Switzerland’s most iconic and picturesque waterfalls in the Lauterbrunnen Valley.

It is approximately 974 feet, making it one of the highest free-falling waterfalls in Europe.

The waterfall has inspired numerous artists and writers, including the famous German poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.

Who wrote about it in his poem “Gesang der Geister über den Wassern” (“Song of the Spirits over the Waters”).

You can admire it from the road as you bike, like we did, or visit it up close!

4. Eat A Bratwurst!

As your bike ride ends, you will return to the bike rental shop downtown.

I recommend visiting the delicious bratwurst stand only a block away.

We split one after we finished our ride, and let me tell you, it was the best reward we could have asked for!

Where Is Lauterbrunnen Valley?

The valley is just a quick train ride from Interlaken. We came up here for a day trip, which was the perfect amount of time.
