Sometimes the best travel experiences happen when you least expect them. I drove three hours from Maine to New Brunswick to stay at a historic country inn, and it turned out the most memorable part of the visit had four paws and a wagging tail.
Dominion Hill Country Inn
Located just 15 minutes from the coastal town of Saint Andrews, Dominion Hill Country Inn sits on a peaceful historic property in New Brunswick that dates back to the 1800s.

What was once a farmhouse has been thoughtfully transformed into a boutique country inn!

The property feels tucked away from everything, yet still close enough to explore Saint Andrews for restaurants, shops, and ocean views.

While the setting is beautiful, most guests quickly learn there is one very special resident who makes this inn unforgettable.
Meeting Benny, the Real Host
The moment we arrived, we were greeted by the true star of Dominion Hill Country Inn, Benny the Bernese Mountain Dog.
Benny is the official hotel greeter, and he takes his job very seriously.
As soon as we pulled up, he walked over to welcome us like we were old friends returning for a visit.

Of course, we came prepared!
Knowing Benny’s reputation, we brought him a few toys to play with, including a very important emotional support carrot.

Watching him proudly carry it around the property instantly made the long drive worth it.
If you are a dog lover, meeting Benny alone is reason enough to stay here.

A Historic Inn With Comfortable Rooms
After our greeting from Benny, we checked into our room inside the historic inn.
The room felt spacious and charming, with classic touches that reflect the building’s long history while still feeling comfortable and welcoming.

One thing that stood out immediately was the bed.
After a three-hour drive from Maine, it was easily one of the most comfortable beds I have slept in at a country inn.
We even got to use their hot tub during our stay!

A Unique Stay Near Saint Andrews
Dominion Hill Country Inn offers something you rarely find in traditional hotels.
The setting is quiet and scenic, the history of the property adds character, and of course, there is Benny, the Bernese Mountain Dog, who makes every guest feel welcome.
If you are planning a trip to Saint Andrews or exploring coastal New Brunswick, this is the kind of stay that turns into a memorable travel story.
