I tried some amazing food during my trip to Iceland, but there was one place that completely stole my heart: Mia’s Country Van. This small red food truck near Skógafoss served me the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. Here is everything you need to know!
Mia’s Country Van in Iceland
After hiking to the Solheimasandur Plane Wreck site, we were starving.
So we drove eight minutes to the bright red food truck also known as Mia’s Country Van.
It’s a food truck that has made its name by offering freshly caught, locally sourced fish cooked to order.

You’ll find the truck just off the Ring Road, right at the turn toward Skógafoss in the village of Skógar.
Delicious Local Fish & Chips
One of the reasons this place is so special is that local fishermen bring in fresh catches every day!
As we ordered our fish and chips, we could truly tell this was a family-run and loved business.

The chef who prepared our meal was beyond kind and told us that the type of fish they use for the chips changes all the time.
The fish and chips were crunchy yet flavourful.
I’m not being dramatic when I say these were the best fish and chips in Iceland — and most likely the best I’ve ever had!

If you are looking for an Icelandic lunch spot that’s full of care, stop by Mias Country Van.
It makes a great lunch spot before exploring Skogafoss, which is just a minute up the road.
