Downtown Bar Harbor Hotels
If you want to be in the center, you should stay in downtown Bar Harbor. There is so much to do here, including trying one of the fantastic restaurants!
I recommend trying the unique and buttery Lobster Ice Cream in downtown Bar Harbor! I loved it.
You will also be accessible to the cruise ports and only a 4-minute drive to the park entrance.
1. Bar Harbor Grand Hotel

Enjoy the historic charm of the Bar Harbor Grand Hotel with a modern flair.
The building is a replica of the historic 1895 Rodick House, but instead, the Bar Harbor Grand Hotel was built in 2003. Its rooms are relaxing and comfortable.
We stayed here during one of our visits to Acadia National Park, and the stay was more than enjoyable.

They are located on Main Street in downtown Bar Harbor, so you only have to walk outside to enjoy the sites.
They have parking on site, which was included in the nightly cost. Unwind with a glass of wine or coffee on their grand front porch, which features relaxing rocking chairs.

2. Main Street Motel

An affordable yet relaxing downtown accommodation is the Main Street Motel.
The updated motel rooms make you feel like you are staying in a five-star resort.
We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived, and lying down in the comfortable beds at the end of our day of hiking was just what we needed.

Not only are the rooms spotless but they are also located in downtown Bar Harbor. We were quickly able to walk right to dinner.
They have a parking lot on the property where a space is included in your room rate.
This hotel is great because you can Hike The Bar Island Trail At Low Tide which is just a short walk away.
Don’t forget to take advantage of their complimentary coffee in the morning.
Main Street Motel is one of the best places to stay near Acadia National Park.

3. The Inn on Mount Desert
Stay at the Mount Desert Inn if you want a more luxurious option downtown. Completed in 2018, the inn offers modern amenities in a historic setting on tree-lined Mount Desert Street.
This was one of my favorite properties near Acadia National Park. We stayed here in the heart of winter, and it was a cozy retreat from the cold.

One of my favorite things about this property is the delicious made-to-order breakfast. It’s beyond delicious—so much better than the usual continental spread!

North of Bar Harbor (5-10 Minutes Away)
If you don’t want to stay directly in downtown Bar Harbor, you don’t have to.
You can easily stay 5-10 minutes from downtown at one of the many hotels and cottages.
This is an excellent option for those who want to save a bit but still be a quick drive away.
4. Belle Isle Motel

The Belle Isle is centrally located on Mt. Desert Island and only ten minutes from Acadia National Park.
The cozy rooms have air conditioning, a mini fridge, and more.
We loved our stay at Bele Isle Motel. It was convenient, clean, and not far from the entrance of Acadia.
I also found it to be one of the most affordable places to stay near Acadia National Park, which is always a plus!

They have a swimming pool open during the season and heated between June 15 and Labor Day.
Lay by the pool before enjoying their picnic areas, with gas grills and plenty of picnic tables for large groups. At night, relax around the campfire that the team lights for guests to enjoy.

5. Hanscom Cottages & Motel

Surrounded by pine, maple, and birch trees, these recently renovated cottages boast delightful flower gardens, offering a peaceful retreat following a day of adventure in Acadia National Park.

Guests can relax and unwind on the new recreational patio, use the outdoor barbecues, and enjoy comfortable seating in the shaded areas of the property.
We stayed at Hanscom Cottages & Motel, and I loved the personal space we had.
The cute cottages made me feel like we were in our home after a day of hiking Acadia.
We hiked The Great Head Trail in Acadia! Which takes you along the ocean with views of Sand Beach.
They are also one of the few dog-friendly places to stay near Acadia National Park.

6. Open Hearth Inn

The Open Hearth Inn has a rich history, dating back to around 1820, when it was built by one of Trenton’s earliest families.
Over the years, it’s evolved to meet the needs of travelers, adding cottages in the 1940s, motel rooms in the 1970s, and suites in 2004.
At this Ohana Inn, where ‘ohana’ means family in Hawaiian, everyone pitches in to ensure guests have a fantastic time.

Check-in and out are mostly self-serve here. The team lives and works on-site to keep everything in top shape for guests.
We stayed in one of their cottages this past winter when visiting Acadia National Park. It was such a peaceful getaway, and they even had a hot tub.

There are only two places to stay inside Acadia National Park, and both are campgrounds.
7. Blackwoods Campground

If you want to stay in the heart of Acadia, book a stay at Blackwoods Campground. Blackwoods Campground is located in breathtaking Acadia National Park on the Maine coast.
You can easily enjoy the historical sites and recreational activities, including hiking, biking, and canoeing. It is also the only place to stay directly in the park.

Blackwoods campsites can be reserved up to 2 months in advance at 10:00 a.m. EDT. There are no first-come, first-served sites. All campsites are by advanced reservation only.
Blackwoods is the most popular campground and can be booked up very quickly.
It is hands down one of the most unique places to stay near Acadia National Park.

8. Seawall Campground

All the sites at Seawall Campground are wooded and within a 10-minute walk of the ocean.
This side of the island has many beautiful and quiet hiking trails, as well as Echo Lake, an excellent lake for swimming, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and picnics.

Most of the spots at this campground are for small and big tents. Some places can fit RVs up to 35 feet long. Moving RVs around here can be challenging.
This campground isn’t set up for big RVs and trailers. Before you book a spot, read all the campsite information and warnings.
And sorry, but if your RV or trailer doesn’t fit in the spot you reserved, we can’t do much about it.

Southwest Harbor (20 Minutes Away)
Southwest Harbor is a fishing and boat-building town on western Mount Desert Island. There is not much of a waterfront here or a small downtown area.
However, you can spend your evenings in a few local restaurants. If you stay here, you will be about a 20-minute drive to Acadia’s Park Loop Road.

Northeast Harbor (15-20 Minutes Away)
If you want to explore more of Mount Desert Island, stay at Northeast Harbor. This sailing town is known for its sheltered harbor. It has a few nice restaurants and even some shops to explore.
A few boat tours leave from here, too. It is a quieter alternative to bustling Bar Harbor. Many like to come here and enjoy the sound of the ocean right from their hotel.
