When you think of a trip to Canada, you may think of vast wilderness, mountain towns, and plenty of National Parks. But did you also know that Canada is home to the World’s Largest Axe?
I was able to see it with my own eyes, and let me tell you, it certainly lived up to the hype. Here’s how you can visit the World’s Largest Axe in Canada.
The World’s Largest Axe
During a very long road trip through northeastern Maine, we found ourselves on our way to a unique attraction, The World’s Largest Axe. You can find it located in Nackawic, New Brunswick, Canada. So why is it here?
It represents the importance of the forestry industry to the town of Nackawic and the surrounding region. Nackawic is often referred to as the “Forestry Capital of Canada.” It was built in 1991 and is made of stainless steel and fiberglass.
Sitting at 49 feet or 15 meters tall and weighing over 55 tons. Its blade is 23 feet wide and 7 meters long.
There’s also a time capsule hidden in the axe head for future generations to find, though who knows if anyone will think to check inside a giant axe!
The wide stump doubles as a stage for music and theater performances, making the world’s largest axe more than a quirky roadside attraction.
What To Do After Visiting
The Axe is located in a very small town and neighborhood. I recommend visiting the Big Axe Brewery, which sits at Nackawic’s waterfront on Otis Drive. We didn’t get to stop by when we visited since they were closed, but their craft beer menu looked delicious!

It is situated in a park by the Saint John River, which provides a scenic backdrop. The park includes walking trails, picnic areas, and a waterfront, making it a popular spot for both locals and tourists.
