If you’re searching for something fun, colorful, and totally out of the ordinary, the Museum of Ice Cream in Boston is the place to go! With lively exhibits, over-the-top ice cream, and playful surprises around every corner, this isn’t your average museum. Whether you’re a kid or just a kid at heart like me, the Museum of Ice Cream in Boston is the place to go!
Museum of Ice Cream in Boston
We decided to check out the Museum of Ice Cream on a whim this past weekend and were able to book our reservation right at the door.
Tickets were $50 per person, which includes all your ice cream tastings, access to every room, and as many photos as your phone can handle.
If you’re planning to go, I definitely recommend booking ahead online, especially during weekends or school breaks when it gets busy.

Expect to spend about an hour walking through, but plan for closer to two hours if you want to enjoy every exhibit, wait in line for the games, and try all the samples.
As soon as we paid and made our way inside, everyone came up with their own ice cream name. From there, we were led into the first room, where we got to try a small ice cream on a stick. After that, we went upstairs to explore the museum at our own pace.

Cotton Candy Ice Cream & Carnival Games!
One of the highlights of the experience was the carnival-themed room.
It had free carnival and boardwalk games like skee-ball and they also handed out cotton candy ice cream—which tasted just like childhood.

The energy in that room was buzzing, and it’s a great spot for both kids and adults to let out some playful energy.

Pink Art at The Museum of Ice Cream!
As we made our way through the museum, we passed a variety of fun, interactive rooms: , a lineup of bright pink refrigerators that you could literally go inside!

There are plenty of colorful spaces that you can walk through and enjoy, with everything related to ice cream.

It’s very much a photo-first kind of place, so don’t be shy about snapping away.
New England’s Lobster Ice Cream
Another surprise was the chance to try a deconstructed lobster roll—but with a twist. It was made with lobster ice cream.

Yep, you read that right. It’s one of those wild food experiences that might not become your favorite flavor, but it definitely makes a great story.
I loved it, but I was lucky enough to try it before today, so I already went into it with an open mind.

I had the opportunity to try this Lobster Ice Cream in Bar Harbor Maine too!
Only in New England, right?
Take The Giant Slide Down!
After we ate our lobster ice cream, it was time to enjoy the dining area of the exhibit. There’s a bar with fun drinks, and you can also grab extra ice cream for an added cost.
If you want to try cocktails with a sweet twist, head over to this Boston Speakeasy Hidden Below A Famous Pastry Shop!
We had to catch our train, so we skipped the extras and took the giant slide down to the bottom.
It’s made for all ages—and I’m not going to lie, it was fast! I actually found myself screaming the entire way down.
Is the Museum of Ice Cream Worth It?
While it is a bit pricey, I do think it was worth every penny. It was one of my favorite museums, mostly because you get to eat your way through it!
If you’re looking for a unique thing to do in Boston that’s playful, interactive, and full of sweet surprises, the Museum of Ice Cream is the place to go.
