Burlington, Vermont, is the kind of place that surprises you with how good the food is. It’s not just about farm-to-table dining and craft beer—it’s about the places that locals love.
I spent some time eating my way through Burlington, hitting up some of the most talked-about (and underrated) spots. Here is your foodie guide to Burlington, Vermont!
Best Foodie Spots in Burlington
Here’s a look at the foodie spots I visited during my trip to Burlington, Vermont.
While there are plenty of amazing sit-down restaurants in town, these spots are perfect for those looking for a quick and delicious bite on the go.
Looking for something specific? Use the dropdown menu below to find exactly what you’re craving!
1. Hong’s Dumplings
📍 Location: 77 Church Street, Burlington, VT
I found Hong’s Dumplings tucked into The Church Street Marketplace, and let me tell you—these dumplings live up to the hype. First of all, the moment you walk in you will feel the warm and authentic vibe of the place.
The dumplings have Northern Chinese style, hand rolled, made from scratch, and made to order.

They’re crispy on the bottom, soft on top, and packed with juicy pork or veggie filling. But what really makes them shine?

The house-made chili oil. I drizzled a little over my order, and suddenly, these dumplings went from delicious to absolutely unforgettable.
Grab some to go, or enjoy them in the small seating area by the window, either way, you won’t be disappointed!
2. Burlington Beer Company
📍 Location: 180 Flynn Ave, Burlington, VT
We visited Burlington Beer Company when visiting The World’s Tallest Filing Cabinet!, which was only one minute away.
I expected to come to Burlington Beer Company for the beer, but I ended up obsessed with their bread and maple butter. The bread comes out warm, soft, and slightly crispy on the edges.

Then, you slather on that sweet, rich Vermont maple butter—it soaks into the bread just enough to create the most ridiculous melt-in-your-mouth bite. I honestly could’ve skipped the beer and just kept ordering this.

3. The Café Hot
📍 Location: 197 North Winooski Ave, Burlington, VT
I love a unique yet delicious breakfast sandwich to enjoy after a night of exploring a new place. That’s where The Café Hot comes in. Located right in downtown Burlington, this sandwich shop truly blew my mind.
First, we tried the Brakefast Sandwich—a perfect combination of egg and griddled cheese on a seeded milk bun, with harissa, miso mayo, and fresh herbs. Everything is made in-house!

The griddled cheese took this sandwich to the next level, making it completely mouthwatering.
Next, I had to test my spice tolerance with the Number Nash—a chicken-fried egg done Nashville-style. The sauce delivered a true Nashville experience—my mouth was on fire, in the best way possible.

And, of course, we had to try their biscuit doughnuts! We went for the Espresso Glaze, made fresh daily with brewed Brio espresso, and the Blueberry Cilantro Lime, which was packed with bright, unexpected flavors.

The Café Hot is hands down one of the best foodie spots in Burlington!
4. Weenies Hot Dogs
📍 Location: 80 Church St, Burlington, VT 05401
I accidentally stumbled upon Weenies Hot Dogs while shopping around downtown Burlington. I couldn’t resist the outdoor sign and had to try it for myself.

This hot dog joint just opened, and I loved the décor from the second I walked in.
They serve up high-quality hot dogs with a variety of toppings—15 to choose from!
Whether you go for the hefty 1/4-pound 100% beef dog or the vegan option, there’s something for everyone.

I tried one topped with their homemade sauerkraut, and it was the perfect snack.
The best part? It’s affordable, making it an easy grab-and-go option for a quick bite, which is why I added it to my Foodie Guide to Burlington!

5. BKK in the Alley
I have visited BKK in the Alley before for drinks, and I knew I had to come back to try their food. Fortunately, it lived up to the hype!
I went for their Pad Thai Bai Tong with chicken, a dish wrapped in a banana leaf to add a unique depth of flavor!

The noodles were perfectly coated in a balanced mix of sweet, tangy, and savory flavors, making it one of the best Pad Thai dishes I’ve had. They also offer a vegetarian version for those who prefer it.
Located on College Street, tucked down an alley, this spot is a true hidden gem in Burlington.
Make sure to add one of their hand-crafted cocktails to the meal!

6. Lake Champlain Chocolates
My foodie guide to Burlington is not complete without a stop at Lake Champlain Chocolates. This local staple has been crafting high-quality chocolates for decades, using Vermont’s finest ingredients.

I couldn’t resist trying their handcrafted truffles, which were rich, smooth, and packed with deep chocolate flavor.
Each bite had the perfect balance of sweetness and creaminess, making them an absolute must-try. Their signature dark chocolate sea salt caramel truffle was a standout, with the perfect mix of salty and sweet.

Beyond truffles, they have an amazing selection of chocolate bars, hot chocolate, and seasonal treats, making it the perfect spot for a sweet indulgence or a gift to bring home.
Foodie Shopping in Burlington
Beyond the amazing restaurants and cafés, Burlington has some fantastic spots for food lovers to bring home unique flavors. Whether you’re looking for international ingredients, gourmet oils, or specialty spices, these shops are worth a visit.
- Little Istanbul – A hidden gem where I picked up a bottle of Turkish wine and some sweet paprika spices to bring a taste of Turkey home. They have a great selection of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern products.
- Saratoga Olive Oil Co. – A must-stop for any olive oil or balsamic vinegar lover. I grabbed a bottle of their dark chocolate balsamic vinegar, which is rich, slightly sweet, and perfect for drizzling over desserts or even roasted veggies.
