Napa Valley, a California destination, is built for wine lovers! There are so many amazing wineries to visit, which can make it hard to decide which ones to reserve.
One of the most popular wineries that lives up to the hype, thanks to its beautiful architecture and delicious wine, is Castello di Amorosa. This Napa Valley winery is known for its impressive castle-like architecture, reminiscent of a medieval Tuscan village.

Transitioning from the castle’s majestic exterior to its functional interior, it’s not just a facade; it’s home to a fully functional winery with a focus on producing high-quality, Italian-style wines. With diverse vineyards under its belt, the winery encompasses a range of grape varietals.
Now, let’s talk about the tasting experience. I had the pleasure of sampling their wines, and let me tell you, they were absolutely delicious!
The Aricheticure
The castle was meticulously designed and built by Dario Sattui, a fourth-generation winemaker, and it took over a decade to complete.

The attention to detail in the construction is remarkable, with a drawbridge, defensive towers, courtyards, and even a dungeon.
The Art at Castello di Amorosa
When you arrive on the property, you will feel like you traveled to Europe. Make your way through the front vineyard, which leads you to the beautiful staircase right in front of the Castle.
Once the staff greets you, they will take you on a quick tour to view the art before seating you.The winery provides guided tours that will take you through the castle’s various rooms, including the great hall, the chapel, the dungeon, and the barrel room.
The tours often include information about the winemaking process and the history of the castle. Castello di Amorosa also hosts events, ranging from private tours and tastings to special dinners and parties.

Learning about the artists and the stories behind the paintings is a truly remarkable experience. It felt like a museum, but with wine!

The Wine at Castello di Amorosa
Once your tour ends, it’s time for wine! Transitioning seamlessly, we were seated on the outdoor terrace, which was particularly beautiful on a sunny California day. Our wine expert then reviewed our preferences and curated a tasting menu that would delight our palates.

I love red wine, and their reds were amazing! The Cab Sauvignon was my favorite out of the tasting. Castello di Amorosa produces a range of wines, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sangiovese, and other varietals. Both the castle and the wines reflect the winery’s commitment to quality craftsmanship.
We purchased two bottles of wine to fly home with us. They offer padded bubble wraps for the bottles at a small additional cost. This made it easy to protect the wine in our checked luggage.
Is Castello di Amorosa Worth A Visit?
So, did Castello di Amorosa live up to the hype? It did! If you want to feel like you are traveling to Italy for a few hours while tasting amazing wine.
Be sure to make reservations in advance. We booked ours three months out to ensure we had a spot. They were sold out for weeks when we arrived.
As you exit Castello di Amorosa, you will be able to marvel at their landscape, which includes adorable farm animals that are waiting to say hello to you during your exit!
