If you’re looking for one of the most memorable dining experiences in southern Maine, The Earth at Hidden Pond is a place you won’t want to miss. During a recent visit to the area, we had the chance to experience dinner here, and it quickly became one of the most unique meals we have had in Maine.
The Earth at Hidden Pond
The is located at the , a quiet property surrounded by forest just minutes from the coast.
The restaurant is known for focusing on locally sourced ingredients, many of which come directly from the on-site gardens.
The menu changes frequently based on what is in season, creating a dining experience that always feels fresh and unique.
Even before the meal begins, the setting itself makes the visit feel special.
Arriving at The Earth at Hidden Pond
When we arrived at The Earth at Hidden Pond, we were greeted right away by the valet who welcomed us and parked our car.
There is also self-parking available, but it is located around the corner, so using the valet is definitely the easiest option.
From the moment we stepped onto the property, the experience already felt special.
Finally Visiting After Three Years
I had wanted to visit The Earth at Hidden Pond for nearly three years, so I was incredibly excited when we finally had the chance to go.
The restaurant has a reputation as one of the best dining experiences in southern Maine, and while it is definitely on the pricier side, it completely lived up to the hype.

This is the kind of place where the entire evening feels like an experience rather than just dinner.
We decided to do the , which allowed us to try a wide variety of dishes from the kitchen.
From start to finish, every course was stunning.
Starting the Evening with Drinks
We began the evening with a round of cocktails while looking over the menu.

I tried the Vanilla Whisky Sour, made with McKenna bourbon, vanilla, fresh lemon, cinnamon, and egg white.
It was smooth, slightly sweet, and perfectly balanced.

We also ordered the Pickled Tini, made with Tito’s Vodka, Bread and Butter pickles, red onion brine, and Thai chili.
It was a fun and creative twist on a classic martini.
First Course
Our fmeal stated with freshly made bread and olive oil, and our first course featured two incredible starters.

The Tuna Sashimi was served with black garlic, ponzu, avocado, wasabi, and sesame.
The tuna was incredibly fresh, and the flavors worked together beautifully.

We also had the Beef Tartare, served with Boursin, chives, cornichons, everything seasoning, and toasted crackers.

The seasoning added such a unique touch and made the dish stand out.
Second Course
The second course was where the meal really started to shine.
We had the Fettuccine with lobster, citrus beurre blanc, spinach, fennel, parmesan, and bread crumbs.

The lobster was perfectly cooked, and the sauce was rich without feeling too heavy.
We also ordered the Cavatelli with braised lamb, black truffle, demi glace, and goat gouda.

This ended up being my favorite dish of the night. The lamb was incredibly tender, and the truffle added so much depth of flavor.
We were also lucky enough to try the Barley Risotto with local mushrooms, peas, truffle butter, and crispy shallots.

The truffle butter made the dish incredibly rich and comforting.
Main Course
For our third course, we moved on to the main dishes.
The Halibut was served with lobster, broccolini, potato confit, saffron coconut sauce, and fine herbs.

The Maine lobster was absolutely incredible and paired perfectly with the delicate fish.
We also had the Swordfish, served with carrot puree, bacon jam, sherry beurre blanc, parsnip, asparagus, and hazelnut.

The combination of flavors was fantastic, and the dish felt both refined and comforting at the same time.
Dessert at Earth at Hidden Pond
Even though we were already very full, we could not skip dessert.
We tried their famous Doughnuts, served with a sassafras and sarsaparilla glaze and vanilla ice cream.
They were warm, light, and absolutely delicious.

We also had the Chocolate Cake, served with cherry, chocolate branches, and white chocolate ganache.
The cake was rich and beautifully presented.

We also had the Lemon Tart, served with lemon curd, rosemary crumble, smoked meringue, and lavender ice cream.
The tart was bright, refreshing, and beautifully presented.

The desserts completely blew my mind.
At that point, we were so full that we decided to take the doughnuts to go and ended up enjoying them the next morning for breakfast.
