It’s no secret I love speakeasies and try to visit them wherever I travel, but this one truly stood out with its detective theme. From mystery-inspired cocktails to interactive clue games, Le Mur 4e offers a one-of-a-kind experience that makes the hunt to find it totally worth it.
My Visit to Le Mur 4e in Montreal
Le Mur 4e is one of those places that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a movie.
Hidden somewhere along Rue Saint-Denis, this detective-themed speakeasy mixes mystery with masterful cocktails.

Inside, the dim lighting, vintage décor, and secretive vibe make it feel like you’ve uncovered something truly special.
Each drink ties into an ongoing investigation, turning your night out into a story you get to be part of.

Some of the characters are even in the paintings on the wall!
It’s clever, immersive, and one of the most unique bars I’ve visited in Montreal.
How to Find Le Mur 4e
This Montreal speakeasy is hidden along Rue Saint-Denis, but don’t expect to spot a big sign pointing the way.
To get the exact address, you’ll need to visit their website and click Address.
From there, fill out your information and wait for an email with the secret location.
Once you have it, the hunt begins!

You’ll find yourself scanning the street for an unmarked door, and spoiler alert—it’s not as easy as it sounds.
When you do spot it, look closely for a hidden brick that will reveal the entrance inside.
I won’t spoil exactly how to find the speakeasy or where the brick is, because that’s all part of the fun.
It was so good it made my list for The Best Speakeasies in Montreal & How To Find Them!!
Once the door opened, we made our way down the stairs into a dimly lit room.
It was classic speakeasy style—secretive, cozy, and full of character.
The Prohibition Style Cocktails at Le Mur 4e
Now onto the cocktails! When our server came by, they handed us a menu full of inventive and mystery-themed drinks.
I started with the Too Bee or Not To Bee, made with Hendrick’s gin, miso dashi, apple honey, and lemon.

It was light, fragrant, and beautifully balanced.
We also tried the Papi Alfred, a creative mix of gin, maraschino, basil, Earl Grey, lime, ricotta clarification, red wine, and grenadine.

This one came in a little box that you get to open and mix yourself—a fun touch that fits the detective theme perfectly.
At one point, I couldn’t decide what to order next, so the bartender surprised me with an off-menu creation that tasted just like rose petals.

A true hat tip to their skill and creativity.
We also ended with the Fantastik, made with dark rum, raspberry, pistachio, lime, and meringue.

It was a dessert and cocktail all in one! The perfect ending to a night out in Montreal!
The Detective Game
One of the coolest parts about Le Mur 4e is the detective game that comes with your cocktail experience.
Each drink comes with a clue, and as you order more, you start piecing together a mystery to solve.
When we visited, our server handed us a small packet with details about the case, matching each clue to the cocktails on the menu.

Honestly, we didn’t fully understand every part of it, but that made it even more fun.
You sip, read through the clues, and suddenly feel like you’re part of your own little investigation.
It’s such a creative touch that plays perfectly into the bar’s detective theme.
This speakeasy was creative, just like The Cloakroom Montreal: Hidden Speakeasy Inside a Suit Shop!
