Situated behind unmarked doors and secret entrances, these speakeasies are where expert mixologists serve creative cocktails!
On my recent trip, I made it my mission to track down the best hidden bars in Quebec City.
Here’s where to find them.
Best Speakeasies in Quebec City
I made it my mission to track down the best speakeasies in Quebec City, and after some careful searching (and a few wrong turns), I found three that you absolutely need to visit.
Here’s where to find them.
Looking for something specific? Jump ahead!
1. Jjaques
📍 Where to find it: Located on 341 Rue Notre-Dame-des-Anges in an alley!
Jjaques is more than just a bar—it’s an oyster lounge, speakeasy, and cocktail haven all in one.
I spent an evening here, and it was one of the highlights of my trip.
The cocktail menu is designed like a map, guiding you through different styles of drinks.
I tried the L’amazone, a perfectly balanced mix of rum, Campari, and passion fruit, and the Jet Lag, a smooth gin-based drink with citrus and anise.

If you love seafood, their beef carpaccio and burrata with pistachio pesto are absolute must-tries.
Jjaques has also been ranked one of Canada’s 50 Best Bars, and it’s easy to see why. The attention to detail in both the drinks and food makes it one of the best speakeasies in Quebec City.

Whether you’re into bold, spirit-forward drinks or something lighter and refreshing, you’ll find a cocktail that blows you away.

2. Vieux Carré
📍 Where to find it: Located on Rue Saint-Joseph Es. Look for the entrance to L’Orygine’—once you spot it, you’re in for a treat.
If you love a speakeasy with a classic, vintage feel, this is the place.

Think dim lighting, jazz playing softly in the background, and bartenders who know their way around an Old Fashioned.

The menu is inspired by Prohibition-era cocktails, with some creative twists that keep things interesting.
This bar is one of the most well-hidden gems in Quebec City, and totally worth the hunt.
We came here before eating dinner at L’Orygine, which made my list of the Best Restaurants in Quebec City: Where to Eat & What to Try.
3. Le Bijou
📍 Where to find it: Le Bijou is hidden inside the Monsieur Jean Hôtel Particulier.
Le Bijou is more than just a speakeasy—it’s a full experience.
When I first stepped in, I was instantly drawn to its red leather couches, artistic decor, and lounge-like atmosphere.

The cocktail menu is where things really shine.
I ordered the Quack-Tail, a playful take on a Piña Colada with coconut and pineapple, complete with Monsieur Jean’s signature rubber duck garnish.

The charcuterie board was another standout, featuring house-made chicken liver mousse, cured meats, pickled vegetables, and salted nuts.
Beyond the cocktails, Le Bijou also serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, making it a great all-day spot.
The windows overlooking St-Jean Street provide a perfect setting to sip your drink and soak in the Quebec City nightlife

4. Justine
📍 Where to find it: Hidden along Rue Saint-Jean, Justine sits behind an unmarked door that opens into a sleek, dimly lit space with a sultry underground vibe.
Justine is known for its bold, spirit-forward cocktails that cater to serious cocktail lovers. The menu changes often, but every drink feels carefully crafted and balanced.

I tried a few selections during my visit, each with its own complexity and depth, but the standout was their house-made Limoncello.
Smooth, vibrant, and perfectly tart, it was honestly one of the best I’ve ever had.
