Portland is the food capital of Maine, and some even say it’s New England’s top foodie destination.
It is no secret that the city is home to some of the area’s best seafood restaurants and lobster shacks.
I spent the past few months eating some of the best lobster rolls in Portland, Maine. Here are my choices.

1. The Highroller Lobster Co
Average Price: $17 (For Smaller One)
Rating: 9.0
The Highroller Lobster Co. in Portland, Maine, is a popular seafood restaurant known for its innovative take on classic lobster dishes.
The restaurant was successful and opened a brick-and-mortar location at 104 Exchange Street in December 2017.

Their lobster roll was delicious and packed with flavor. You can get a full-size or a half-size; the half-size is below.
We also tried their lobster on a stick, which was amazing.

2. Luke’s Lobster
Average Price: $39 (For Lobster Roll Flight)
Rating: 7.9
Visit the Portland Pire when exploring downtown for a true lobster roll experience. Luke’s Lobster sits right at the end of the pier.
Luke is a small chain, but that doesn’t mean you won’t get amazing lobster here.

My favorite part of eating a lobster roll here was the variations they had. I couldn’t decide on which one, so I went with the Lobster Roll Trio.
Which had three chilled lobster roll samplers, a 2oz lemon butter roll, a 2oz spicy honey butter roll, a 2oz truffle butter roll with chips, and a pickle.

The truffle butter roll was my favorite! If I come back, I will get a full-size one of those
3. Eventide Oyster Co.
Average Cost: $19.00
Rating: 8.2
Eventide Oyster Co. is a famous restaurant known for its extensive seafood menu and freshly shucked oysters.
Many travel from all over New England to try their Brown Butter Lobster Roll; honestly, I cannot blame them!
Their Brown Butter Lobster Roll lived up to the hype. Hands down, it was one of the best lobster rolls in Portland, Maine.
It’s unique and packed with flavor! It is tiny and is just a few bites long, but the flavor is explosive.

Visiting Eventide is not the same as going to one of the shacks; it is a complete dining experience.
Many come here for a full dinner and pair it with one of their creative cocktails.
I documented my entire experience at Eventide, and you can read all about it in my Guide To Eventide Oyster Co.
