There are some days that stay with you forever, and my visit to Golden Dog Farm in Vermont was definitely one of them.
It was a snowy winter morning in the heart of Vermont, making it the perfect day to spend time with 10 golden retrievers. As a dog lover, this experience made some of my dreams come true. Here is everything you need to know.
Golden Dog Farm in Vermont
First, let’s a bit about Golden Dog Farm! This family-run, organic farm is located in the Green Mountains of Jeffersonville, Vermont.
It’s best known for its Golden Retriever Experience, where visitors can enjoy playtime with a happy group of at least 10 golden retrievers. Which is exactly what I was here for!

The farm also produces award-winning maple syrup, honey, and other local goods.
Whether you’re cuddling with the dogs or savoring their maple syrup, Golden Dog Farm offers a warm, welcoming experience that feels like a hug from the inside out.
The Golden Retriever Experience
We drove from Maine to Vermont for this experience, and I am happy to report it was worth the drive. We paired the visit with a weekend trip to Burlington, which was great!
Even though it was March in New England, the snow was falling, making it a perfect day in Vermont.
Here is a look into my Golden Retriever Experience at the Golden Dog Farm!
Greeted By Uncle Lenny
From the moment we arrived, the place felt special. The property itself is gorgeous, like a cozy postcard come to life.

We were greeted warmly by the owner and Uncle Lenny, a sweet therapy dog who walked right up and gave me a leg hug like we were old friends.
That small moment set the tone for what would be one of the happiest days I’ve ever had.
Snowy Walk to the Barn
Once we parked and were greeted, we followed the short, snowy trail, guided by signs pointing to the barn where the event was being held.

After a short snowy walk to the barn, we were given a quick introduction by the friendly team, who explained what to expect.

Pro Tip: If you are visiting Vermont in winter, like we did, I recommend strapping on your microspikes for extra grip!
The Arrival Of The Butternut Goldens
Soon enough, a big truck pulled into view, filled with at least 15 golden retrievers, tails wagging and noses pressed to the sides.

We got to pet them while they got familiar with us! This helps the dogs feel comfortable and also lets you learn a bit about them.

Then, like a scene straight out of a dream, the back of the truck opened, and the goldens took off running into the snow.
We spent time tossing tennis balls and laughing as they bounded through the snowbanks, full of energy and joy.
Spending Time With The Butternuts
After they started to tire out, we made our way back down to the beautiful barn, where we got cozy on the floor for some one-on-one cuddle time.

One by one, the dogs came up to us—leaning in for hugs, asking for pets, and melting every heart in the room.

To top it off, we were given a sample of the farm’s very own maple syrup—rich, sweet, and delicious—and did a little shopping in the market before heading out.

Professional Photos
We also got professional photos taken on the bench and in the back of the truck, surrounded by golden fluff.

The team even snapped candid shots of the whole experience, which now hang proudly on my fridge. Every time I see them, I smile.
This wasn’t just a cute dog activity. It was one of the best days of my life—warm, happy, and full of love. I’ll absolutely be coming back… again, and again, and again.

I recommend checking out all of their events here. They host a variety of unique experiences each season.
