If you’ve ever dreamed of having second breakfast like a Hobbit, Elevenses is the place to do it.
Located in Brunswick, Maine, this unique cafe takes inspiration from The Lord of the Rings.
While serving a menu full of brunch favorites, specialty coffee drinks, and comforting meals.
The cafe’s name comes from the famous Hobbit meal known as “elevenses,” a mid-morning snack enjoyed between breakfast and lunch.
While you don’t need to be a Tolkien fan to enjoy the experience!
Fans of the books and movies will appreciate the themed menu items and playful atmosphere.
During a recent visit, we stopped in for brunch to see what all the excitement was about, and it did not disappoint.
Start With a Latte
No brunch is complete without coffee, so we started our meal with lattes.
If you’re visiting for the first time, I highly recommend ordering the Rosemary Latte.
The rosemary adds a subtle herbal flavor that pairs surprisingly well with the espresso and creates a drink that feels a little different from your typical latte order.
It was smooth, flavorful, and easily one of my favorite things we tried during our visit.
Scotch Eggs and Hashbrown
Before our main dishes arrived, we ordered a couple of small plates to share.
The Scotch Eggs were the first thing to hit the table, and they were excellent. Crispy on the outside and packed with flavor, they disappeared quickly.
We also ordered the Hashbrown, which was perfectly cooked with a crispy exterior and soft interior.
It may sound simple, but it was one of those dishes that everyone kept reaching for.
Both small plates were a great way to start the meal and gave us a chance to try more of the menu.
Chicken and Waffles and Wizardly Chia Waffles
When our entrees arrived, we immediately knew we had made the right choices.
I ordered the Chicken and Waffles, which featured crispy fried chicken paired with fluffy waffles.
The combination of sweet and savory flavors worked perfectly, and I found myself going back for another bite before I had even finished the first one.
We also ordered the Wizardly Chia Waffles, which were just as impressive.
They offered something a little different from a traditional waffle dish while still being filling and packed with flavor.
Both entrees were phenomenal, and we completely cleaned our plates by the end of the meal.
Is Elevenses Worth Visiting?
Absolutely.
Between the creative Lord of the Rings theme, delicious food, and welcoming atmosphere.
Elevenses offers one of the most unique brunch experiences in Maine.
There were plenty of menu items we didn’t get a chance to try, which only gives me another reason to return.
Next time, I’ll definitely be ordering another Rosemary Latte while working my way through more of the menu.
