If you’re looking for an authentic lobster boil in Maine, Fishermen’s Catch in Wells is an experience you’ll want to add to your summer plans. We recently visited for their lobster boil overlooking the Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge, and it ended up being such a fun way to enjoy some of Maine’s best seafood.
Fishermen’s Catch Lobster Boil
Fishermen’s Catch is a seafood restaurant located in Wells, Maine.
With an outdoor dining area overlooking the Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge.

While you can stop by the restaurant for fresh Maine seafood, we visited specifically for their lobster boil experience.

Instead of a traditional restaurant meal, the lobster boil takes place outside, where the tables are even made from lobster traps!
The experience includes multiple courses before ending with the main event: an entire lobster boil dumped right onto your table.
Booking Our Maine Lobster Boil
We booked our lobster boil through GetYourGuide, which made the entire process really easy.
When we arrived at Fishermen’s Catch, we checked in using the GetYourGuide app before being brought out back to the lobster boil area.
You can book the experience here!
We were right along the Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge, and even the tables fit the Maine theme since they were made out of lobster traps.
Starting With New England Clam Chowder and Shrimp
Our meal started with a cup of New England clam chowder, followed by grilled shrimp skewers.

We also paired our seafood with a Lunch IPA from Maine Beer Company, which was perfect for a summer afternoon in Maine.
But these first courses were just the beginning because the main event was still coming.
The Authentic Maine Lobster Boil
Then it was finally time for the lobster boil!
Our chefs came over carrying the entire boil and dumped everything right onto our table. I was so excited when I saw the size of the lobsters.
Along with the lobster, our boil included Prince Edward Island mussels, local clams, corn on the cob, potatoes, and bread.

Make sure you also get the Old Bay seasoned butter. It was so good with the seafood!

Everything tasted incredibly fresh, and we actually devoured the entire table.
Ending With Homemade Maine Blueberry Pie
Just when we thought the meal was over, it was time for dessert.
We finished the experience with a slice of homemade Maine blueberry pie.
And it was honestly one of the best blueberry pies I’ve had in Maine.

After a huge seafood dinner, I didn’t think I would have room for dessert, but this was definitely worth saving room for.
Exploring the Outdoor Area at Fishermen’s Catch
After eating, we spent some time exploring the outdoor area at Fishermen’s Catch.
We played lobster cornhole, walked along the water, and took in the views overlooking the Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge.

I loved seeing all of the birds along the water, and there are even fire pits where you can hang out after your meal.
It made the experience feel like more than just going out for seafood.
What to Know Before Visiting Fishermen’s Catch
Come hungry! The lobster boil includes a lot of food, especially once you add in the chowder, shrimp, lobster, shellfish, sides, and blueberry pie.
I would also plan to spend some time outside after your meal instead of leaving right away.

The location overlooking the wildlife refuge is beautiful, and we really enjoyed hanging out and exploring the area.
I also have to give a shoutout to the team at Fishermen’s Catch.
Our server went above and beyond throughout our visit, and the chefs working on the lobster boil were equally amazing.
