Buckingham Palace Christmas Pop-Up Shop, The Real “Christmas Market”

London has plenty of Christmas markets, so it is easy to assume Buckingham Palace has one too. I kept seeing people talk about a “Buckingham Palace Christmas Market,” and it sounded like something I needed to check out. But what I actually found might surprise you.

The Truth Behind the Buckingham Palace “Christmas Market”

Everybody assumed Buckingham Palace had its own Christmas Market this year, thanks to it going viral online.

And here’s the truth: there is no official Christmas market at Buckingham Palace.

All of the images of the stalls in front of the palace were fake.

The palace doesn’t host outdoor stalls, vendors, or a traditional European-style market.

But there is something festive you can visit, and it sits right on the palace grounds, the Royal Mews Christmas Shop.

Visiting the Royal Mews Christmas Shop

The Royal Mews Christmas Shop is located directly across the street from the main Buckingham Palace gift shop.

And it is very easy to confuse the two.

I walked in expecting a small souvenir shop, but once you step inside, you are greeted with shelves of Buckingham Palace-themed Christmas gifts.

You will find ornaments shaped like corgis and crowns, and royal carriage decorations.

Even Christmas table settings, children’s books, and plenty of beautifully packaged gifts.

One of my favorite things to pick up was the Buckingham Palace gin, and it is made with botanicals sourced from the palace grounds.

The whole shop has a warm holiday atmosphere and feels like a little royal Christmas moment tucked away on the palace grounds.

The Outdoor Pop-Up Area

Right outside the shop is a small outdoor space decorated with Christmas trees, garlands, and sparkling holiday décor.

There is also a festive drink cart that serves hot chocolate, mulled wine, and a few warm seasonal treats.

It is not a full Christmas market, but it has a cozy pop-up feel that really captures the magic of the holidays.

This little outdoor corner is the perfect place to take a break, sip something warm, and enjoy a quiet Christmas moment before heading back into the busy streets of London.
