It hit nearly 70 degrees this past weekend in New England, so we packed up for a spontaneous coastal road trip down the coast of Maine. After spending the day wandering around, I suddenly got a craving for my first lobster roll of the season. I was beyond excited to see a lobster roll shack I have not tried yet, The Buoy Shack.

The Buoy Shack in Maine

Located on Badgers Island in Kittery, Maine, The Buoy Shack sits right on the edge of the Piscataqua River. It offers stunning views of downtown Portsmouth just across the water.

This open-air lobster shack is a perfect New England spot, which shows a working waterfront with the laid-back vibe of a summer getaway.

Tropical Drinks By The Water

It was the perfect day to enjoy a freshly made tropical cocktail while overlooking the water! So we ordered up a round.

We tried the Rum Punch and Dark & Stormy, which were perfect island drinks. They also offer a build-your-own margarita, which I was tempted to try. Next time I will!

The Buoy Shack Lobster Rolls

The Buoy Shack is known for its fresh Maine lobster rolls, packed with locally caught knuckle and claw meat from York, Maine.

Served on a toasted brioche bun, you can choose between a light lemon mayo dressing or warm drawn butter.

I was feeling the lobster roll with mayo today, since it was finally nice and hot out. It was paired with freshly made coleslaw, which was equally as tasty.

This lobster roll was sooooo good. The lobster was fresh and delicious, and the roll was perfectly crispy and buttery. It was literally such a treat for an April day in May.

We also tried the “Catch of the Day” fish sandwich. This locally caught white fish is lightly breaded (gluten-free) and fried.

It was crispy and flavorful, served on a brioche or gluten-free bun with tartar sauce and greens!
