Bar Harbor is packed with great places to eat, from fresh seafood spots and laid-back lobster shacks to stylish restaurants perfect after a day exploring Acadia National Park. I’ve personally tried every restaurant on this list, and these are the Bar Harbor restaurants I think are truly worth visiting in 2026.
8 Must-Try Bar Harbor Restaurants
If you are wondering where to eat in Bar Harbor, these are the restaurants that stood out most from my visits.
1. Geddy’s
If you want a fun and lively place to kick off your Bar Harbor food tour, Geddy’s is always a solid choice.
This longtime local favorite first opened in 1974 and has been a Bar Harbor staple for decades!
Growing from a small seaside bar into one of the most recognizable restaurants in town.

I started with their island-themed cocktails, including the Painkiller, which was huge!
Then ordered the jalapeño bacon lobster roll and a haddock sandwich, and both were packed with flavor.

The colorful interior and upbeat atmosphere make this a great pick for a casual lunch or dinner right in the heart of downtown.
2. The Loft
Located on the second floor of Bayside Landing in downtown Bar Harbor is The Loft Raw Bar & Seafood Grill!
Its upstairs location gives it a slightly hidden feel, and once inside, you’ll find one of the more creative menus in town.

When I visited, it felt like a great choice for a night out in Bar Harbor.
We ordered the Ahi Poke Wonton Nachos, which were fresh, flavorful, and one of the most memorable dishes I’ve had in town.

And a bunch of other small plates, which were just as good!
3. Siren & Sailor
One of the newest additions to downtown Bar Harbor is Siren & Sailor !
It just opened in April 2026 and is already making a name for itself.
The restaurant blends creative cocktails with a delicious food menu, giving Bar Harbor another fresh option for visitors.
When I visited, it quickly became one of my favorite newer spots in town.

We started with cocktails, including the Sailor’s Mouth, which came with deep-fried olives, which I am still thinking about!
And the Siren’s Blood served in a mermaid cup!

For dinner, we ordered the roasted oysters with Gouda and crab, plus the White Wine Rigatoni made with fresh pasta.
I love freshly made pasta, and this one was amazing.

Dessert was the real standout, especially the blueberry cobbler with cheddar ice cream and the Chocolate Baked Alaska that arrived on fire.
If you want a fun dinner spot with strong cocktails and memorable desserts, Siren & Sailor is worth adding to your list.
4. Dinner
Dinner is one of the more unique places to eat in Bar Harbor, with a menu that changes often and a focus on seasonal Maine ingredients.
The smaller setting and exciting dishes give it a different feel from many of the busier spots in town.

When I visited, we started with the Coconut Green Curry Mussels and a Dirty Blues Martini made with blue cheese-stuffed olives.
For my entrée, I ordered the Curry Baked Haddock, which was cooked in parchment with vegetables, curry butter, and coconut cream.

If you are looking for something beyond the usual lobster rolls and fried seafood, Dinner is a great pick for a more memorable night out in Bar Harbor.
5. Peekytoe Provisions
Peekytoe Provisions is a great lunch spot in Bar Harbor.
Especially if you want something fresh, casual, and a little different from the standard tourist menus.
It is also a nice option to know about because they stay open year-round, which can be hard to find in Bar Harbor.
When I visited, I ordered the Local Seaweed Salad made with kelp ribbons and a sesame ginger dressing.

Along with the haddock tacos topped with blackened or baked haddock, fruit salsa, and local greens.
The menu feels creative while still staying approachable, making Peekytoe Provisions a great stop for a quick and flavorful meal in town.
6. Bar Harbor Lobster Pound
Bar Harbor Lobster Pound is a great stop when you want the classic Maine lobster shack experience just outside downtown Bar Harbor.
Opened in 2023, this family-run spot quickly became known for fresh seafood, outdoor picnic table seating, and lobsters cooked right outside!
When I visited, I ordered the House Special Lobster Roll made with fresh lobster and lemon garlic aioli.
And it easily earned a place among my favorite lobster rolls in Maine.

We also tried the haddock burger, plus local drinks like blueberry wine and blueberry ale.
If you do not mind a short drive from downtown, Bar Harbor Lobster Pound is well worth adding to your list.

7. Ben & Bill’s
Ben & Bill’s Chocolate Emporium is not technically a restaurant, but it is still a must-visit stop in Bar Harbor for dessert.
This downtown favorite has been serving homemade ice cream since 1983 and is best known for one of the most unusual treats in Maine, Lobster Ice Cream.
When I tried it, I was surprised by how good it actually was.

The flavor starts with a creamy vanilla base and includes real chunks of lobster with a buttery, slightly salty finish.
It sounds strange, but it is one of those fun Bar Harbor experiences every foodie should try at least once.
8. The Barnacle
The Barnacle is a popular oyster bar in downtown Bar Harbor known for fresh oysters, coastal cocktails, and a laid-back atmosphere.
It is a great stop when you want something lighter or a place to pop into between plans rather than a full sit-down meal.
When I visited, the oysters were delicious and exactly what I hoped for in a Maine oyster bar.

I also recommend ordering a Dark and Stormy, which felt like the perfect drink for the setting.
Whether you stop in for an appetizer before dinner or a nightcap after, The Barnacle is a fun addition to any Bar Harbor food itinerary.
