Tinder Hearth is one of the most unique restaurants in Maine. It began as a small bakery focused on naturally fermented bread.
Over time, it grew into a destination for wood-fired pizza and seasonal dishes.
Many of the ingredients come from nearby farms.
The restaurant sits in a rustic barn in rural Maine.
The setting feels simple, welcoming, and completely authentic.
Arriving at Tinder Hearth
Getting to Tinder Hearth is part of the experience.
The restaurant is tucked away in the countryside. Farms and quiet back roads surround the property.
When we arrived, we followed the signs for pizza and made our way into the barn.
The process is casual. You grab your place settings, find a table, and order at the bar.
Right away, it felt like one of those hidden gems that locals have known about for years.
Starting with Cocktails & Appetizers
We started with a pair of Negronis.
They were the perfect way to kick off the evening.
For our appetizer, we ordered the cheese-filled risotto balls with harissa marinara.
They were crisp on the outside and creamy in the middle. The spicy marinara added a nice kick.
The Wood-Fired Pizza
Pizza is the main reason people make the drive to Tinder Hearth.
We ordered the Carbonara pizza with North Country bacon.
It was rich, smoky, and packed with flavor.
We also tried the classic cheese pizza.
Sometimes, simple is best.
This pie lets the crust, sauce, and cheese shine.
Both pizzas had a perfectly blistered crust and that delicious wood-fired flavor.
Save Room for Dessert
Dessert ended up being my favorite part of the meal.
The magnolia bud crème brûlée was unlike anything I had ever tasted.
It had a subtle floral flavor that made it feel truly special.
We also ordered the ricotta ice cream with rhubarb.
It was creamy, tangy, and the perfect way to end the meal.
