I’ve been spending my weekends exploring the best apple orchards across New England. But nothing topped my visit to Russell Orchards in Ipswich, Massachusetts! Here I discovered a fall treat I didn’t even know existed — the Cider Slushy Dreamsicle. Here is everything you need to know!

Russell Orchards in Massachusetts

Russell Orchards in Ipswich has a classic New England vibe that makes you feel like you stepped into a fall postcard!

The 120-acre family-run farm has been around for decades, with roots going back to the early 1900s.

It’s the kind of place that’s simple, welcoming, and full of little details that remind you why fall in Massachusetts is so special.

The orchard is alive with pick-your-own fruit, homemade cider donuts, and even a small winery on site.

Tasting My Way Through Russell Orchards

It was a beautiful October day when we decided to stop by Russell Orchards.

The parking lot was packed, but there was a friendly team member out front directing traffic, which gave everything a cheerful, organized vibe.

As soon as we parked and stepped out, I knew I was about to be on a full-blown foodie adventure.

The Farm Store

Inside the farm store, I felt like a kid in a fall wonderland. The shelves were lined with homemade jams, honey, baked goods, and bottles of their own fruit wine.

I spent way too long wandering through each aisle, admiring the rows of colorful produce and local products.

Before leaving, I picked up a few jars of apple butter and a jar of pumpkin purée to bring home!

But they truly had so much more to explore.

Apple Cider Wine

After stocking up on goodies from the farm store, I made my way over to the wine tasting area tucked inside the big red barn.

Russell Orchards makes its own small-batch wines using fruit grown right on the property.

Flavors ranged from apple and pear to strawberry and blueberry.

You can do a tasting flight to sample all four varieties or just order by the glass like I did.

I went for the apple cider wine, and it was exactly what I hoped for: crisp, lightly sweet, and full of that fresh apple flavor that tastes like fall in a glass.

Fresh Apple Cider Donuts at Russell Orchards

No trip to Russell Orchards is complete without stopping at the apple cider donut stand.

The smell alone is enough to pull you right into line — warm cinnamon sugar and fresh cider in the air.

Even though the line was long, it moved quickly, and before we knew it, we were walking away with a fresh pack of apple cider donuts.

They were still warm, soft on the inside, and perfectly coated in sugar.

It’s the kind of simple fall treat that makes the whole trip feel worth it.

The Cider Slushy Dreamsicle

And then came the highlight of the day, and honestly, my entire fall season! The Cider Slushy Dreamsicle!

It’s an apple cider slushy filled with creamy ice cream, then topped with whipped cream and a drizzle of caramel sauce.

The first bite was pure fall perfection. It was cold, sweet, and bursting with apple flavor.

This was the best item I had at any of the apple orchards I visited this fall!

I would drive out here again to eat it again.

A Walk Around the Orchard

After finishing our slushies, we walked around the orchard for a bit.

The property is beautiful, especially in the fall when the trees glow in shades of orange and gold.

There are farm animals to visit — goats, pigs, and geese — and families scattered across the fields taking photos and picking apples.
