Why Anita’s Sjømat Was My Favorite Lunch Spot in Lofoten

If you’re looking for an unforgettable lunch in the Lofoten Islands, Anita’s Sjømat deserves a spot on your itinerary. We came specifically for the famous fish sandwich, but it was the incredible waterfront picnic spot that made this one of my favorite meals of the trip.

Anita’s Sjømat in Lofoten

Anita’s Sjømat is a seafood restaurant and fish market located in Sakrisøy, one of the most picturesque villages in the Lofoten Islands.

Why Anita’s Sjømat Is Famous

Before our trip, I kept seeing Anita’s Sjømat recommended over and over again, especially for one thing—the fish sandwich.

Naturally, we had to see if it lived up to the hype.

I’m happy to report that it absolutely did.

The fish was fresh, perfectly cooked, and served on a soft bun that let the seafood shine without overpowering it.

It’s simple, but sometimes the simplest meals are the ones you remember most.

Where to Find the Best Place to Eat Your Lunch

Here’s the tip I wish everyone knew.

Most people grab a table on the restaurant’s outdoor deck, but I think there’s an even better spot.

The hidden picnic table at the end of the pier is the best place to enjoy lunch from Anita’s Sjømat.

After picking up your food, walk through the gate beside the restaurant and continue down to the small pier.

At the very end, there’s a single picnic table overlooking the water.

That’s where you should eat.

A cold Lofotpils paired perfectly with lunch and the incredible Lofoten views.

It was quiet, peaceful, and had some of the best views we found anywhere in Lofoten.

Sitting there with a fresh fish sandwich while looking out across the fjord made the whole experience even more memorable.
