Our first dinner in Lofoten set the bar incredibly high for the rest of our Norway trip. If you’re looking for a memorable meal with beautiful views, fresh seafood, and traditional Norwegian flavors, Brygga Restaurant in Å deserves a spot on your itinerary.
Brygga Restaurant in Lofoten
Brygga Restaurant is a waterfront restaurant located in the village of Å at the southern end of the Lofoten Islands.

The name translates to “Pier Restaurant,” which is fitting because the restaurant sits right along the water.
Its convenient location made it an easy choice for our first night in Lofoten.

The restaurant was only a short walk from our Airbnb.
And after a long day of travel, we were excited to settle in and enjoy our first meal in Norway.
Arriving at Brygga Restaurant
One of the first things I noticed was the view. The restaurant overlooks the water, and the scenery alone makes it worth visiting.
Between the fishing boats, mountains, and calm harbor, it felt like the perfect introduction to the Lofoten Islands.

Before ordering food, we decided to start with a local Norwegian beer and enjoy the scenery.
There is something special about sitting by the water in Northern Norway with a local brew after a day of exploring.
We stayed at the Luxury Sea Cabins in Å! Which is right up the road.
What We Ordered
Smoked Halibut
For my main dish, I ordered the smoked halibut served with herb oil.
The fish was incredibly fresh and packed with flavor.
One of my favorite things about traveling through Norway was getting to try local seafood.

And this dish was a great example of why Norwegian seafood has such a strong reputation.
The herb oil added just enough flavor without overpowering the halibut, allowing the freshness of the fish to shine through.
Brown Cheese Parfait
For dessert, we couldn’t leave without trying the brown cheese parfait.
Brown cheese, known as brunost, is a Norwegian staple that you’ll find throughout the country.
I know it can be a little controversial, but I actually really enjoy it.

The parfait was served with waffle crisps and Norwegian berries, creating a perfect balance of sweet and slightly salty flavors.
It was one of the most unique desserts I tried during our time in Norway and a fun way to experience a traditional Norwegian ingredient.
My Favorite Part
While the food was excellent, the combination of the views and the fresh local ingredients made the experience stand out.
Lofoten is known for its dramatic scenery, and Brygga Restaurant allows you to enjoy those views while sampling some of the region’s best flavors.
It felt like exactly the kind of meal I hoped to have during our trip.
