If you’re driving through the Lofoten Islands, make sure Bakeriet i Å is on your itinerary. Located at the southern tip of Moskenesøya, this historic bakery serves delicious pastries from a wood-fired stone oven that’s been part of its history for generations.
The Bakery at Å in Lofoten
Bakeriet i Å is one of the most famous bakeries in the Lofoten Islands and a stop that both locals and visitors make while exploring southern Lofoten.
Located in the small fishing village of Å, the bakery has been baking in its original wood-fired stone oven since 1844.

The oven itself dates back to 1878, and many of the recipes are the same traditional ones that have been passed down through generations.
Walking inside feels like stepping back in time.

The smell of fresh bread and pastries fills the bakery, and it’s easy to see why so many people recommend stopping here.
Where is Bakeriet i Å?
Bakeriet i Å is located in the village of Å, the southernmost town on Moskenesøya in Norway’s Lofoten Islands.
If you’re road-tripping through Lofoten, you’ll naturally end up here because Å sits at the very end of the E10 highway.

Even if you’re staying farther north in Reine or Hamnøy, it’s only a short drive and makes an easy stop before turning around.

What I Ordered
I couldn’t leave without trying their famous cinnamon roll, and it absolutely lived up to the hype.
The cinnamon roll was soft, fresh, and packed with cinnamon without being overly sweet.

I also ordered the vanilla custard pastry, which ended up being just as good.
The custard was rich and creamy, and the pastry was perfectly flaky.

Honestly, you can’t go wrong with either one.
My Favorite Part
My favorite part was knowing I was eating pastries made using recipes that have been around for generations.
There are plenty of bakeries throughout Norway, but there’s something special about enjoying a warm cinnamon roll from a bakery that has been part of Lofoten’s history for well over a century.
It felt like more than just grabbing breakfast—it was part of the experience of visiting Å.
