If you love unique hotels with a little history, Hotel Christiania Teater Oslo is such a gorgeous place to stay. We loved the theater-inspired design, artwork throughout the hotel, and a central location that made exploring Oslo incredibly easy.

Hotel Christiania Teater

Hotel Christiania Teater is a boutique hotel located right in the heart of Oslo, Norway.

The hotel is set inside a historic building dating back to 1918 that was once home to Norway’s first permanent opera stage.

And one of the coolest parts?

There is still a theater inside the building today.

That history gives the hotel so much more personality than a typical city hotel, and you can see little touches of its theatrical past throughout the property.

Staying in a Theater-Inspired Hotel in Oslo

One of my favorite things about Hotel Christiania Teater was its design.

The purple seating and tall windows added even more personality to our room at Hotel Christiania Teater.

The rooms have so much character and feel completely different from the standard hotel rooms you can find in almost any city.

There are theatrical touches throughout the property that connect back to the building’s history, but it still feels modern and comfortable.

I love staying somewhere that actually feels connected to the destination, and this hotel definitely did.

The Artwork Throughout Hotel Christiania Teater

I also loved all of the artwork throughout the hotel.

There was always something interesting to look at as we walked through the halls and common areas.

Between the artwork, dramatic design, and theater-inspired details, the entire hotel had so much personality.

It made exploring the property part of the experience instead of the hotel simply being somewhere we came back to sleep.

The Historic Theater Inside the Hotel

The theater is what really makes Hotel Christiania Teater unique.

Knowing that the building once housed Norway’s first permanent opera stage made staying here so much more interesting.

There is still a functioning theater inside today, which means this part of the building’s history hasn’t disappeared.

I loved that the hotel kept that connection to its past instead of completely transforming the property into something modern.

The Location in the Heart of Oslo

The location was another huge reason we loved staying here.

We could walk pretty much everywhere we wanted to go in Oslo.

That made sightseeing incredibly easy because we could leave the hotel in the morning and spend most of the day exploring the city on foot.

Breakfast at Hotel Christiania Teater was an easy and delicious way to start the day before exploring Oslo.

If it’s your first visit to Oslo and you plan on seeing several of the city’s biggest attractions, staying somewhere this central makes a huge difference.

We were able to easily work places like Akershus Fortress into our itinerary without spending a ton of time getting around.
