This Lofoten Sauna Has One of the Best Views in Norway

One of my favorite experiences in the Lofoten Islands wasn’t something we planned months in advance—it was a last-minute sauna session at Reinefjorden Sjøhus. Between the incredible fjord views and an Arctic cold plunge under the midnight sun, it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip.

The Reinefjorden Sjøhus Sauna

The Reinefjorden Sjøhus Sauna is a waterfront sauna located in the fishing village of Reine in Norway’s Lofoten Islands.

Overlooking Reinefjorden, it’s the perfect place to relax while taking in some of the most beautiful scenery in Lofoten.

What makes the experience even more memorable is the opportunity to step directly into the Arctic water for a cold plunge.

How to Book the Reinefjorden Sjøhus Sauna

We were actually staying nearby at Eliassen Rorbuer and decided to reach out the morning of our visit to see if there were any openings.

Guests staying at Reinefjorden Sjøhus receive priority booking, so availability for outside visitors can be limited.

Luckily, someone had canceled, and we were able to reserve a time slot that same day.

You can book the sauna online here.

What to Expect During Your Sauna Experience

The sauna sits right along the water with panoramic views of Reinefjorden and the surrounding mountains.

Even before stepping inside, the scenery alone makes the visit worthwhile.

Inside, the sauna is warm, modern, and designed to make the most of the incredible waterfront setting.

Between sauna sessions, you can head outside and cool off in the fresh Arctic air—or if you’re feeling adventurous, take a cold plunge into the fjord.

Visiting during the midnight sun made the experience even more unforgettable.

Instead of watching the sunset, we were soaking in the views with daylight stretching well into the evening.

Cold Plunging in the Arctic Waters

The cold plunge was easily my favorite part.

There was something so refreshing about jumping into the Arctic water before climbing back into the warmth of the sauna.

It definitely takes a little courage, but it ended up being one of the most memorable moments of our trip.

One thing to know before jumping in is that there can be lion’s mane jellyfish in the water.

We spotted several floating nearby while we were there.

They’re beautiful to see, but it’s worth taking a quick look around before you get in.
